FIRST GENERATION TUSH TAG
the original Beanie Babies came with a black & white tush tag. Some had a copyright dated 1993 some 1995. All Beanies with First or Second Generation swing tag have this tush tag, no exceptions. Some black & white tush tags had "CE" some did not, also some had "for ages 3 and up" while others did not. | FIRST GENERATION
SECOND GENERATION TUSH TAG
The second generation tush tag has a large red heart with white "ty" inside it and a ® symbol to the lower right of the heart. There's no individual Beanie name on the first or second generation tush tags. Second generation tush tags had copyright dates of: 1993, 1995 and 1996. "The Beanie Babies Collection™" is added to the top of the third generation tush tag followed by a much smaller red heart and white "ty" inside with the ® symbol on the bottom right. The name of the Beanie was also added to this tag. Copyright dates on this tag ranged from 1993 to 1996 |

FOURTH GENERATION TUSH TAG
When Ty decided to change the tush tag again, they must have had an excess of the third generation tush tag. Initially, Ty attached a transparent sticker over the red heart, which added a small red star to the upper left of the heart. When the fourth generation tush tag was printed, the sticker dissappeared and the small red star was the only change. The fifth generation tush tag was introduced in October of 1997 and has minor changes from the previous generation. "The Beanie Babies® Collection™" (note the addition of the ® symbol after "Babies"), also a ™ symbol was added after the Beanie's name. Fifth generation tush tags have copyright dates from 1993 through 1997. |

SIXTH GENERATION TUSH TAG
The sixth generation tush tag was introduced in January of 1998. The only change from the previous generation tush tag was the replacemet of the ™ symbol after the word "Collection" with the ® symbol which was removed after the word "Babies", everything else remained the same. There is a rare embroidered tush tag which is found on a few Beanies. Beanies with this tag have a second generation swing tag and a second "Canadian" tush tag. This tag is the only tush tag with a copyright date of 1994 . This type of tags could have been an error, as they normally are attached to the "Ty Plush" toys. So far, only Chocolate, Quacker (no s), Spot, Goldie, Cubbie and Pinchers were found with this tag. |

SEVENTH GENERATION TUSH TAG
A totally redesigned tush tag with Major improvments. The introduction of a Hologram (long overdue!) on one side, a watermark on the other side and a new 1999 © copyright date plus the usual words.
CANADIAN TUSH TAG | ||
Beanie Babies destined for distribution in Canada have a double tush tag. The first tush tag is a variation of the generations mentioned above, the second tush tag is for Canadian toy import regulations, the information on this tag is printed in English on one side and in French on the other.
VARIATION ON ALL TUSH TAGS
There is some variations on the above mentioned tush tags which includes the placement and font size and style of the "CE" notation, also, earlier tush tags had "PVC" pellets while newer tags have "PE" pellets notation. Newer Beanie Babies (June 1998 releases and later deliveries) have a Chinese (inspector) red stamp (the stamp # varied by the Beanie's style) inside the fold of the tush tag. |
