Web Site Traffic Building Tips

for teen courts and other sites.

Increasing teen court and other Web site traffic is an art that requires careful planning, hard work and determination with a great reward for those willing to take the extra steps to insure their site becomes successful.

You must prepare your web site with the best possible appearance before submitting it to search engines. Submitting a web site under construction to search engines is like opening a new business with a private phone number and a barricade blocking the parking lot and the store entrance. A search engine and other interested sites surfing to your location will often ignore your site.

Its success requires that you carefully select the words used in your title, along with using meta description and key word tags, in addition to other key methods that increase your site's ranking in search engines by what is commonly known as a spidering agent. This will be the primary method for bringing web surfers to your site.

The second method will be from web surfers that arrive at your site, either by accident or by referral of a secondary referring site. If the visiting surfers, however, don't like your web site design, they probably won't return, nor recommend your site to others. In addition, if your site takes too long to download, the surfers will ride the waves elsewhere to visit other sites without ever looking at your site. It will not make any difference how wonderful the information on your site may be, if surfers, never get to see it because they die from boredom while waiting for the site to arrive.

Some web hosting sites provide web pages through the use of their own web designing tools. Whenever possible make certain that you are using current HTML standards. There are plenty of sites that provide a wealth of information on html methods from the most basic to the most complex. You need only use any search engine to locate resources under "html services, html tips, html guides, free html down loads, free web sites" and other similar type phrases.

Once you have determined that your web site is ready for submission, forget it. Don't do it yet. Have a few friends or associates view your site to get their "honest" and constructive opinions regarding your site. Just because you like it and think that it is ready, others may not agree with you. In addition, it is always a good idea to have others "proof read" your site for you as it is always easier for writers and designers to miss their own mistakes.

Learn what search engines are looking for in your web site that will make it receive a higher ranking. For example, Book, Books, book, books, book store, book sales, book guides, used books and other similar words and phrases will attain different responses. The phrase "used book stores sales guide and travel books" will cover a number of search requests for individuals using any combination of two or more of the words in the phrases. Try to determine if people are searching sites with only one word or groups of words. In some cases, the more key words you have on your initial web page, the better chance you have of getting a high ranking. On the other hand, however, too many words on your site could cause some search engines to ignore you. Your best bet may be to design two separate sites or pages with key words designed for each of the engine requirements. Once visitors reach one of the sites, you can redirect them to the other site through the use of links.

Multiple pages designed to reach the top of rankings of different engines through the use of key words and redirecting links will make your site a greater success than having one or more pages with the same key words used over and over. Remember the old phrase, "variety is the spice of life." This means that you will have to design web pages that will contradict each other in some form or another. These "contradictions" must often be in the first few lines of the web page up to the entire page. The problem individuals are encountering with search engines today is that search engines that key on only one or two key words often pop up sites that have nothing to do with the subject that is being searched.

No matter how often you "remodel" your site after its submission, never refer to it being under construction, nor place animations or icons that indicate reconstruction, as the search engines will often ignore your site. In addition, watch for other key words that also indicate under construction. Watch for and repair broken links. Carefully choose animations that do not take too long to download. Animations may be great for your site, but don't over do it. In addition, don't use extensive art or colors that will also take a great deal of time to download. You can reduce the size or change the look of animations and icons by using the words with numbers in the html code such as "height=80 width=60". Visit a few sites to see how they are used in the code. Colors and other characteristics can also be changed with practice, and a little effort, until you really get the hang of it. Some sites use numbers while others use words for colors, so be careful when you attempt to make changes in them.

Carefully keep records of what your site is experiencing and make appropriate changes as necessary to increase the probability of its success. Read other web site tips on this site.
