Level II - Crisis and Trauma Intervention for Professionals The second level is crisis counseling for clinicians, and delves more deeply into trauma education and intervention, and specifically into some short-term strategies embraced by the FEMA model of intervention.
OBJECTIVES:
Segment 1 - Trauma TreatmentFollowing completion of this segment, the participant will be able to:
a. understand the difference between Acute Stress Disorder and PTSD
b. understand and explain predictors of, and vulnerabilities to, trauma acquisition
c. explain how to assess trauma and types of trauma
Segment 2 - Phased Trauma Intervention
Following completion of this segment, the participant will be able to:
a. understand immediate intervention and its place in the continuum of trauma mitigation
b. understand staged trauma intervention
c. understand early containment strategies
d. be familiar with exposure concepts
Segment 3 - Related Issues with Trauma
Following completion of this segment, the participant will be able to:
a. understand and discuss lethality issues
b. understand and discuss systemic issues, including traumatized systems and their manifestations
c. understand and discuss vicarious traumatization redux, and its impact on the therapeutic process
