Critical Incident Stress Management strategies and interventions can only be effectively delivered through a well-organized and orchestrated CISM Team. Team development and maintenance skills are critical to the effective functioning of a CISM team. This session will explore: leadership and management strategies; team development activities; team evolution considerations; preventative maintenance; learning from the past; and how to help teams remain healthy.

Upon completion, participants will be able to:

  • Describe key skills for successful leadership.

  • Describe the steps in team development.

  • List barriers to team development.

  • Discuss two options for team structure.

  • Describe minimum standards for training of team members.

  • Discuss group dynamics that effect team operation.

  • List methods to keep teams healthy.

  • Describe common CISM team organizational mistakes.
