Sam D. Bernard, Ph.D.
Sam D. Bernard, Ph.D. is a native of Tennessee, currently living in Chattanooga – the scenic city nestled between Lookout and Signal Mountains and the Tennessee River. As founder and President of Bernard & Associates, P.C., a Chattanooga based firm focused on disaster psychology and crisis intervention from both a preventive and response perspective, he travels providing interactive and skill based educational programs. He has taught at East Tennessee State University and Chattanooga State Technical Community College. He was a responder to New York City during the September 11, 2001 events for 3 weeks as well as to the Tri-State Crematory in Noble, GA where he served as consultant to the Georgia Emergency Management Agency. He is licensed in Tennessee as a Senior Psychological Examiner – Health Service Provider, National Certified Counselor and Traumatologist. He is a diplomate with the American Board of Examiners in Crisis Intervention, and the American College of forensic Examiners – Crisis Intervent ion. He is a Clinical Associate with the American Board of medical Psychotherapists. He is Board Certified in Acute Traumatic Stress Management and School Crisis Response. He is a member and Board Certified in Homeland Security – Level III. He is past President of the Chattanooga Area Psychological Association 2001 and 2002. He is current President of the Tennessee Association of Psychological Examiners.
