LAURA V. LOUMEAU-MAY, MPS, ATR-BC, LPC

LAURA V. LOUMEAU-MAY, MPS, ATR-BC, LPC is a Board Certified and Registered Art Therapist and a Licensed Professional Counselor with over twenty years experience in the fields of art therapy and mental health. For the last nine years, she has worked in the Journeys Program of Valley Home Care of Paramus, New Jersey as a bereavement counselor for children who have suffered the loss of parents, siblings or other family members. She uses her art therapy skills to help those who have experienced the anticipated deaths of loved ones from such illnesses as cancer or AIDS, as well as those who have had sudden and traumatic losses which include heart attacks, suicide, accidents, and more recently, the terrorist attacks of 9/11/01. Ms. Loumeau-May’s work in this area was featured on ABC’s Primetime Thursday in March of 2002, and in November of 2002, the New Jersey Hospice and Palliative Care Organization named her “Art Therapist of the Year”. Throughout her career, Ms. Loumeau-May has presented in many national conferences. In addition to her art therapy work, she is currently the Practica Coordinator and an Instructor for the Art Therapy Program of Caldwell College.
