Hi Folks,
Founders Day greetings - October 25th was the marriage date of Serg. David Scott and Sarah Jean Dalgity in Forfar in 1795 and thus an occasion for descendants and family.

Forfar Family News is a way to update folks on ongoing family history research of the Scott-Dalgity descendants which all share a connection to Scotland through Forfar.

This week has been a special occasion in Nova Scotia.  All branches of the family, also trace a connect to New Scotland, and Halifax and Ste Croix, NS continues to be home for family members.  Fred Scott turned 90 last week and family and friends gathered Sunday, in the church hall to celebrate.  Visitors included Member of Parliament, Alexa McDonough a long time family friend along with her mother. Now a widower, Fred lives in the house where he was born and continue his lifelong interest in Canadian politics. He is an avid reader, especially of political biography, and has a amazing memory.  He attributes part of his good health to having lived on a farm where there is no shortage of work to be done.  He continues to save oil by having two furnaces, cutting and burning wood in one.  A campaign photo taken for the election campaign of 1945 shows him in his 30's.

Progress on locating relatives and researching family history continued though the summer with exciting finds in Pennsylvania through the research of Donna (Brunt) Maloy and her husband Roy.  Names and dates located through cemetery research has provided new leads to search through written records.

The digitation of books is an ongoing activity to ensure that out of print books are not lost.  Dr. Walter Dill Scott's biography Scott of Northwestern - long out of print -  was recently converted to web format on HomePort.

Pictures and his brothers John Adams Scott and Edsel Winfield Scott, have been recently added to Homeport.

Among the current generation, Andrew Scott visited new sites in Scotland this summer. Sites that fellow athlete our ancestor frequented 200 years ago.  Prior to cycle racing on the Isle of Man in July in the international Island Games, Andrew raced in Edinburgh where Serg. David Scott is reputed to have operated an athletic club prior to embarking on a military career.  He brought home (along with a medal) pictures of Edinburgh, areas that are unchanged in 200 years.
