Harold Wayne Wilson was born in 1923 in Brownsburg, Hendricks Co., IN. While growing up the Wilson up moved to follow the military career of their father and lived in Fort Crocket, Galveston, TX and Fort Ruger in Honolulu, HI., among other locations.  Harold joined the ROTC in 1936 at Fort Scott in San Francisco working up the ranks to  Lieutenant.  He excelled in all sports and was academically and physically competitive his entire life. In 1945 he held the Lightweight Boxing Championship for the United States Navy.

During the summer of 1941 he and his parents visited Riverside, CA and by the summer of 1942 they had permanantly settled into the popular city.  He entered Riverside Community College and maintained his involvement with sports and the ROTC, finally entering the Navy Reserves.  In the spring of 1943 he was placed on active duty status, fell in love with his soon-to-be wife, Kathryn Troth, and departed for flight training to begin his military service for WWII.  After completing his college requirements he was commissioned as an Ensign in the US Navy spending the war years at various assignments in the States. As a USN WWII OS2 fighter pilot he receiving his wings in Corpus Christi,TX in 1945.

He and his wife, Kathryn, had settled down in Riverside, CA where there were some uncomfortable few years after the war's end while the world shifted from the war efforts to peace time economies. Eventually they bought their first home where they raised a family of four - three sons and a daughter. 

Kathryn Virginia Troth, was a Riverside, CA native whose Troth and Scott ancestors had for many generations lived in Pittsburgh PA.
