One tiny image, taken
in 1888 is a confirmed image of David Scott taken in Ste Croix, Nova Scotia
at the age of 63. His career in business, operating Ste Croix House, a
general merchant operation in Halifax, NS ended in failure and he
returned with his family of eight children to his 200 farm, and operated
a store, serving as an auctioneer, Justice of the Peace, and farmer.
Two images located in
2001 are thought be David. One from a pair of matched Ambrotypes, with
his bride Jane, was likely taken when he married at age 28,
A second picture,
possibly taken when he was in his late 40's, show him when he was listed
as Commission Merchant Wholesale and Retail in American & West Indian
Goods in Halifax, NS. The Halifax image is a carte-de-visite taken
at a studio, on 197 Hollis St. near his business at the foot of Sackville
between Lower Water Street and Hollis Street.
