Lillian's return to the village of her birth and to Elm Farm included a home occupied by her two sisters-in-law, both maiden aunts who had maintained the farm home for many years. Eventually finding her own role within the farm operation she also recognized the need for her nursing skill locally and became certified to provide nursing care with the Red Cross, and also become the local midwife. Her son Fred Scott could recall times when a driver would arrive in the middle of the night with a horse hitched ready to take her quickly to the awaiting mother. As babies were usually born at home she delivered babies throughout the village, and surrounding area.
John a farmer had a long affiliation with political and temperance organizations in the province rising to Grand Worthy Patriarch of the Sons of Temperance. Active in the Presbyterian Church, he served as an Elder for over fifty four years and was Sunday school superintendant for many years. Concerned about the social issues related to the collapse of prohibition he held stongly to his temperance position despite a changing tide in public opinion.
Lily and John had two sons - Rev. John R. Scott and Frederic C. G. Scott.
