Lowry Troth Scott was born on August 29, 1895 in Pennsylvania the son of William Thomas Scott (1851-1929) and  Eava Josephine Lowry (b.1853)

His three names each carried a strong family connection.  Lowry came from his maternal grandparents - Pittsburgh Mayor, James Lowry and Eliza Shorre.  Troth came from his father's uncle, William James Troth, a prominent Methodist lay preacher in Pittsburgh, active in national church work who married Margaret Scott.  His paternal grandfather Thomas Forester Scott (brother of Margaret), was also an active Methodist layman and a business partner of William Troth at one time.  All three names had deep associations for his parents, thus calling their son - Lowry Troth Scott - was a fitting combination.

The original picture is part of the family collection of Tracey Lynn Smith a granddaughter of Lowry Troth Scott.
