FISHING & SHUTTERBUGGING IN ALGOMA COUNTRY!!

OSSI welcomes you to come and enjoy great scenery, many different species of fish and wildlife. It has become very evident that all of us have to work together to preserve our earth and wildlife. Therefore OSSI is offering an opportunity for you to come and enjoy the total wilderness experience. The main fishing hole in our area is Wabatongushi Lake. OSSI guests fish Wabatongushi Lake, but they also enjoy excursions to many smaller outpost lakes. These lakes offer some of the same species of fish that are present in Wabatong, but also other species, i.e., lake trout, and speckled trout.

We offer you the opportunity to have a great time fishing, and to enjoy eating some fine tasting walleye, or northern pike. Then on the trip home to know you have left these natural resources in capable hands for your children's children.

One of the best fighting fish in these waters is one of the ugliest. Yes, that's right a sucker, sometimes called a whistle trout. Well, I am not suggesting that we go whistle trout fishing, but how about fishing for whitefish, or perch. You can choose to go and catch the fish you want to eat first. Then away we go to try for some really great fighting fish fun, and good eating fish too. Check out our Tackle page for suggestions on what tackle and bait you should bring for each species that you want to fish.

We also ask that you do not hold fish on a stringer. The Inn does not have a live box, and prefers that fish are not kept using this method. Ice for keeping fish fresh is included in your per person rate. If you do not have a cooler you are willing to use for icing the fish we will provide one.

Special guests are the ones who practice "Catch and Release". If you are unfamiliar with "Catch and Release" techniques we will be glad to explain how to do it properly.

OPEN SEASON ALL YEAR FOR SHUTTERBUGS

Wabatongushi Lake is part of the "World's Largest Game Preserve" the "Chapleau Crown Game Preserve". This area provides many photographic opportunities.

There are other interesting possibilities for your entertainment, like exploring for diamonds, gold, and other minerals. Birdwatching is becoming more popular, and you could go check out the many different species of flora and fauna. Or how about just plain sitting back and soaking up the quiet?

Open Season, Sometimes Sno'd Inn welcomes you for hunting, fishing, photography, or just plain relaxing!
