Lake Peterman at el Cielito Lindo * - San Quintin

* Now the site of El Copilote Mojado

Sometimes, the ocean blows right onto the beach. This lake was formed during a period of high tides and winds, when the ocean blew a channel between the dunes and stayed around for a week or two. The rest of the ocean is about 300 yards to the right of the propane tank. Great wading pond!
Later that year, we were actually slapped by a tidal wave in the middle of the night! I don't know how high it was, but it wiped out all the dunes between park and beach, and washed out a number of the concrete separators like the one in the foreground! (Maybe weight ain't so bad, after all.)
