from Point Loma are not too be missed - breath taking panoramic

beautiful sunset I have ever seen. Blue skies, sun, endless water
- who can ask for more?! We enjoyed our time in San Diego. Being
here in the off season was nice. No lines at any of the parks,
quiet beaches.... The idea of getting on a plane to return to the

quick note to follow up on our recent visit to your place in San
Diego. We had a wonderful time and felt at home immediately. To
sit on the balcony at sunset was therapeutic, to say the least.
We had one week at the unit and one at another unit. The children
and I decided we greatly preferred your place for many reasons. I
preferred the relative privacy of being a few flights up. The
activities on the board walk could feel a bit invasive on the
ground floor.
I thought you
may be interested in a few things that set your place apart. Your
hair dryer was more powerful. You had a toilet brush. Your
kitchen had a few more bits and pieces that made living there
easier. It was brighter at any time of day. There was no CD
player at the other place. I think there were a couple of other
things but they escape me at the moment.
We are going
to try to come to San Diego again next spring. You will always be
the first person I ring. Thank you for all your help and

to look for dolphins which seem to appear each day around 9:00 am
(behind where the surf beaks). There are 4 - 6 of them. Also at
9:40 PM go on the front deck and watch the fireworks from Sea

Why You Should Stay at Sunset Sands...

Better than a motel... You get a better location, more
room, a chance to save a little money by cooking, a fridge, a
stereo, etc., etc. And the cost is close to - and even less
sometimes - if you share the unit with others.

Complete information... We are not trying to hide anything
about Sunset Sands. We are proud of the unit, and we want
you to know exactly what you will be paying for.
Doesn’t that feel better than going to a place you know very
little about?

Mid-Mission location... The unit is located in an uncrowded
area. if you get a spot nearer the Pacific Beach end
(north, towards Crystal Pier) or the Belmont Park end (south),
you will be competing more for beach space with the general
public. Eee Gads!
Seven
A nice neighborhood... A few hundred feet from the unit to
Mission Blvd. are seafood, sushi, Mexican, and California
neuveux restaurants, a full service bakery, two small markets,
and two coffee houses. Within a couple of (short) blocks
you can rent roller blades, shop for clothes, get a hair cut,
visit a surf shop, try another coffee place, and more.
Six
Everything you need is there... The unit is equipped with
more than the average vacation rental. We have boogie
boards, a hair dryer and curling iron, beach chairs, and even
high speed wireless internet access. And the kitchen is
really complete. You have everything you need to cook a
gourmet meal or to bake a birthday cake - from scratch!
FIVE!
Best ocean views... The third floor has the perfect
view of the ocean. You can easily see the dolphins surfing,
and the seals surfacing. It’s not the same in a
high-rise, or on the lower floors. And by the way, the unit
is on the top, so there is no thumping from the giants or kids
above!
Third floor privacy from the board walk look-e-lu’s...
Some places seem pretty good - but are on the ground floor!
At Sunset Sands, there is no worry about people on the board walk
checking you out. And you won’t need to keep your
drapes shut in the evening and night for the same reason.
The happy ambiance... You will feel it and see it.
Couples holding hands and gazing into each other’s eyes,
cute little children squealing with delight while they play at
the surf, people chatting and laughing, smiles, and more
smiles. There really is a warm, casual, friendly atmosphere
here at Mission Beach.
The alluring sound of the surf... So relaxing is the surf
serenade. Don’t forget, if you stay on a court or on
bay side (Mission Bay Park, across the isthmus), you will miss
this sleep-inducer.
Owners that care... The owners vacation here
themselves. They are constantly working on maintaining and
improving Sunset Sands. They know what you need, and they
want the best for their guests.

TIPS FOR RENTING A VACATION HOME
Bring a bag or 2 and maybe a cooler with some groceries to get
you started with meals for the first day or so. Believe me, you
won't want to go the store when you see that ocean! Some people
even bring enough for most of their stay, and other bring some
staples like coffee, Equal, tea bags, and other personal
favorites that they might not want to buy in a larger quantity.
When you arrive, if you notice anything broken or damaged, or any
major items missing (e.g., TV clicker, telephones, etc.), report
it to the owner or property manager so they will know that your
rental started in that condition.
Be courteous and quiet for your permanent-resident (or any)
neighbors. You will generally find them eager to make new
friends, fun to chat with, and a great source of valuable local
information tidbits and recommendations.
Expect at least a few minor problems with your vacation rental
home. It is hard for owners or managers to know of and keep up
with fixing every little problem. So there may be a few things
not working properly or causing a minor inconvenience - just like
in your own home!
Bring a telephone calling card or prepaid calling cards with you.
Often your vacation home will have long distance calling blocked.
Do not mix up your things with the vacation rental property. Try
to be careful to separate out your towels from the property's,
for instance, and don't forget to leave the garage door opener in
the unit when leaving.
Don't hesitate to ask questions (below) to your management
company or landlord about the unit or the area after you arrive.
This will make your stay better and easier all around!
QUESTIONS TO ASK ABOUT YOUR vacation rental BOOKING
Ask to see pictures of the property, inside and out. One picture
is worth a thousand words!
Ask what the cleaning fee is, if any, and what condition you are
to leave the unit in upon check-out. These fees vary and you will
not want a surprise when you get a smaller amount of your
security deposit back than you expected.
Ask about potential noise sources such as planes, barking dogs,
loud neighbors, etc. I think most of the time you will get honest
answers if you ask.
Is the unit managed professionally? This can be better or worse,
either way. If the unit is professionally managed, you will
generally find the unit up to a good standard. Professional
cleaners are used, and you can always get hold of someone in case
of an urgent situation. On the other hand, some (and I emphasize
"some") units that are managed by their owners are
meticulously cared for. You may be even doted upon a bit. Other
things being equal, I would probably go with a professionally
managed unit.
Does the owner stay at the unit for part of the year? If so,
owners will often care for, make improvements and fixes, and add
small touches that otherwise may be let go. You will usually find
"pride of ownership" working for you when they stay
there sometimes. If this is strictly a business, check to make
sure the unit is adequately equipped and maintained.
How many and what type of parking is provided? If you have an
over sized vehicle or RV, does the parking space fit it?
Find out if the unit is furnished with specific items that you
may not have bring with you. For example, hair dryer, videos for
the kids (if the unit has a video player), playing cards, etc.
What are the local taxes and other fees that are not included in
the listed price? It is better not to be surprised by these.
Other possible questions:
- What are the bed types and locations?
- Do you have to climb stairs to get to the unit, or is there an
elevator? Is the unit on one level?
- Do you accept credit card payment?
- When is my security deposit refunded?
- How do I get into the unit if I arrive after hours?
- Will you provide good directions to the unit?
- Do you have an after-hours emergency phone number?

The condo was so great that even after seeing the Hotel Del Coronado, we still thought the unit was much better. furnished and truly "ready to go" (spices, soap, paper

"Just a quick note to follow up on our recent visit to your place in San Diego. We had a wonderful time and felt at home immediately. To sit on the balcony at sunset was therapeutic, to say the least. We had one week at the unit and one at another unit. The children and I decided we greatly preferred your place for many reasons. I preferred the relative privacy of being a few flights up. The activities on the boardwalk could feel a bit invasive on the ground floor.
I thought you may be interested in a few things that set your place apart. Your hairdryer was more powerful. You had a toilet brush. Your kitchen had a few more bits and pieces that made living there easier. It was brighter at any time of day. There was no CD player at the other place. I think there were a couple of other things but they escape me at the moment.
We are going to
try to come to San Diego again next spring. You will always be
the first person I ring. Thank you for all your help and
consideration."

week with sunny sky blue days. The beach was not crowded which
was wonderful. The view from the unit is magnificent. Being up
high is quiet and is peaceful. The unit is clean and decorated
nicely. It has been really handy having the elevator to take our

to look for dolphins which seem to appear each day around 9:00 am
(behind where the surf beaks). There are 4 - 6 of them. Also at
9:40 pm go on the front deck and watch the fireworks from Sea

location, more room, a chance to save a little money by cooking,
a fridge, a stereo, etc., etc. And the cost is close to -
and even less sometimes - if you share the unit with others.

information... We are not trying to hide anything about
Sunset Sands. We are proud of the unit, and we want you to
know exactly what you will be paying for. Doesn’t that

Mid-Mission
location... The unit is located in an uncrowded
area. if you get a spot nearer the Pacific Beach end
(north, towards Crystal Pier) or the Belmont Park end (south),
you will be competing more for beach space with the general
public. Ee Gads!
Seven
A nice
neighborhood...
A few hundred feet from the unit to Mission Blvd. are seafood,
sushi, Mexican, and California neuveux restaurants, a full
service bakery, two small markets, and two coffee houses.
Within a couple of (short) blocks you can rent roller blades,
shop for clothes, get a hair cut, visit a surf shop, try another
coffee place, and more.
Six
Everything you need is
there... The unit is equipped with more things than
the average vacation rental. We have boogie boards, a hair
dryer and curling iron, beach chairs, and even high speed
wireless internet access. And the kitchen is really
complete. You have everything you need to cook a gourmet
meal or to bake a birthday cake - from scratch!

Best ocean
views...
The third floor has the perfect view of the ocean.
You can easily see the dolphins surfing, and the seals
surfacing. It’s not the same in a high-rise, or on the
lower floors. And by the way, the unit is on the top, so
there is no thumping from the giants or kids above!
Third floor privacy from the board walk
look-e-lu’s... Some places seem pretty good - but are
on the ground floor! At Sunset Sands, there is no worry
about people on the board walk checking you out. And you
won’t need to keep your drapes shut in the evening and night
for the same reason.
The happy
ambiance... You
will feel it and see it. Couples holding hands and gazing
into each other’s eyes, cute little children squealing with
delight while they play at the surf, people chatting and
laughing, smiles, and more smiles. There really is a warm, casual,
friendly atmosphere here at Mission Beach.
The alluring sound of
the surf...
So relaxing is the surf serenade. Don’t forget, if you
stay on a court or on bay side (Mission Bay Park, across the
isthmus), you will miss this sleep-inducer.
