Master of the Wind and Sea

He slept,
Not the sleep
of fitful dreams
or troubled heart.
He slept
deep and full of peace,
while all around Him
wind whistled and roared,
waves crashed over decks
of the small, floundering boat.
Drenched and frightened
His friends called out
Awaken !
We shall surely perish!
He opened his eyes,
rose without effort,
You have little faith.
Stretching himself
to his full height
calmly HE spoke
"Be still…"
The winds quieted.
The water rested.
They marveled.
What kind of man is this
whose voice,
winds and sea obey ?
