SOLIDO BELGE

Military Figures

Made by the same company that makes all of the metal military vehicles in 1:48 scale. These figures are made of polyethylene, are painted and stand about 60mm in size. Some have added camouflage added to their helmets. I do not know if this was by the manufacturer or done by a collector. They are similar to Crescent and Timpo (prone figure seems to be a copy of US Tim-Mee figure) and probably date to the early 1960s.

TOLTOYS (AUSTRALIA)

Made in Australia 75mm WWII Soldiers, semiflat. Sold individually and on cards. Jack Ford kindly provided this information; These are not cereal toys but part of set of 6 toy soldiers, we call ”WOOLIES AUSSIE DIGGERS”. Figures also came in red and the missing, sixth figure is a soldier sitting and firing a Vickers heavy machine gun. These toy soldiers as well as a series of hard plastic toy cars and toy trains (all with plastic wheels) were made for Australia’s then two major department store chains Woolworths (i.e Woolies) and Coles/Pennys. These department stores had shops throughout most cities and towns across Australia and each shop had a toy section. These R&L toys were cheap to buy and so suited the shopping market serviced by Woolies or Coles.
