The definition of a Bed & Breakfast is (according to the Sanitation
Health Code of NC), "A private home of no more than four
bedrooms, or lodging no more than 8 people per night, for less than a week's stay."
It can prepare breakfast only for overnight guests. If the Bed & Breakfast exceeds these
limits, they are considered Inns and subject to other rules
& regulations. Some hotels attach, "B&B" on to their names
because, "people like to think they are staying at a B&B."
Inspection from the Board of Health is once a year, the date and time at their
discretion. If any B&B is cooking for weddings, parties, etc.
without a restaurant kitchen, their license will be taken.
