HERE'S THE LATEST NEWS ON THE BIGGEST EVENT YET! The 2000 running day promises to be not just the biggest yet, but now the BIGGEST IN THE UK!

Three Additional coaches will be in passenger service: Bedford YRQ/ Duple Dominant NAF 443M (Clues Coaches), Bristol RELH 6G/ ECW HFR 594D (Crosville), and Bristol L6B/ Beadle EMW 284 (Wilts&Dorset).

Vehicles S20, L3 and O2 will be unable to attend.

Extra services will be operating to Stonehenge (Service 23), from Westbury DEP 1703 to Warminster (Service 242) plus 5 extra journeys from Longbridge Deverill to Warminster.

Last Years News.....

The former Swindon Daimler CVG6 JAM145E (Duty D9) is unable to attend Warminster on 12 September and will be replaced by one of Thamesdown Transport's surviving Leyland fleetlines -UMR 199T (fleet No.199). This is a 1978- built vehicle with ECW H43/31F body.

If you propose to take a ride on one of the mystery tours, don't forget to go to the information desk by Warminster Railway Station to obtain your FREE boarding pass- that is your guarantee of getting a seat. We have selected a particularly scenic route for this years tours. Which may take a little longer to complete- probably 60-65 minutes- than shown in the programme/ timetable.

News from Sept 3....

An additional vehicle, to cover breakdowns or missing vehicles, will be available for passenger-carrying duties in the morning:

S17 Bristol LHL6L/ Plaxton C51F 1975 GNM 235N

This has a 2-speed rear axle fitted, giving 10 forward and 2 reverse gears. Vehicle now preserved at West of England Transport Collection, Winkleigh.

Last Weeks news...

If you have ordered an advance programme, these will be despatched in the week ending August 27. In addition to the 35 working buses and coaches listed therin, you will also be able to ride on a London Transport Routemaster (RM24- now owned by "Route 24" of Bournemouth) and ex-Crossville Bristol RELH6L/ECW C49F HFM 5A4D with rare "crash" gearbox, coming from Sheffield.

Warminster Tourist Information Centre (opposite Warminster Coach Station) will be opening specially on Sunday Septemeber 12 for the benefit of vistitors to the Vintage Bus Running Day, from 10am to Noon. 100's of local bus and rail timetables, maps, guidebooks etc. You can even book your overnight accomodation with them- Phone (01985) 218548 (Mon-Sat 09.30-17.30)- but don't wait 'til Sept. 12 to book!!!

And here's a dedication for you- Greg Lawson owns a rare 1948 built Royal Blue Bristol L6A 1/2 cab coach and is travelling overnight to warminster from West Yorkshire. He says that it will be the vehicles only visit to Southern England this year. Who can blame him!?!?

Free "feeder" services into Warminster on Septempber 12th will run from Bristol, Chippenham, Melksham, Midsomer Norton, Radstock, Wolverhampton, Birmingham, Kidderminster, Worcester, Gloucester, Stroud, Salisbury, Bath, Shaftsbury and Gillingham (Dorset). Some of these services will have compulsory seat reservations (for your benefit; to ensure that you get a seat!)

Full details of these services, including times and exact pick-up points, will be shown in the Programme\timetable available at the end of August.

New for 1999 will be two additional Associated Motorways Express Services- to Beckington, Somerset and Shaftsbury, Dorset, the latter working to very tight schedules!
