READING WITH PHONICS
The program that teaches YOU how to teach your children to read.

Home Things to think about Phonics Resources

Dear Parents,

I cannot tell you how excited I am to finally be offering this opportunity to home schoolers in the region! The basic program, three years in the making, is based on the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources guidelines for Environmental Education.

This is an academically rigorous program designed for students serious about learning - and making a difference on God's Earth. Environmental Sciences is multidisciplinary, involving some basic knowledge of Earth Science, Biology, Chemistry and Geography, generally at the middle school level, plus the ability to appreciate cross-cultural understanding.

Please take a moment and consider whether your child is academically and emotionally ready for the challenges. As a science club, it is taught from the base of current knowledge. And the sad, often disturbing, truth is that this planet is in trouble. There are many serious issues that must be addressed now if there is any hope for a sustainable future. From this truth, students will be shown the good news, that there is hope – a lot of hope.

The goal of this program is to introduce students to the various components of environmental science in a way that will help them understand the complex interactions of planetary systems, so they will be able to understand the challenges being faced and the tremendous efforts and successes being made in the global movement now in progress to turn the destructive tide: Global warming, melting polar caps, endangered coastal plains; ozone depletion, loss of canopy, and fossil fuel depletion are among the many issues being successfully addressed with current research and modern technology.

Our children’s future will be very different from ours; many of our Earth’s biotic systems are near the tipping point. The direction it takes, good or bad, will depend on the decisions made now and in the near future. We look forward to introducing your students to the exciting options available to them, and invite them to join the many people working to make the world better for all species, including humans.

Sincerely,

Michele
Director, Daniel Boone Tutor Ctr.

P.S.
Did you know there are cars all across America today, running on water? Did you know one of the premiere, independent, alternative fuels investigator is converting cars to Brown's Gas right here in our area? Do your teens know what hypermiling is, and how dangerous it can be?
