Because Of You
Before, my heart lay on the dust covered shelf,
despondent and cold,
Before, my eyes saw only the hurt in peoples faces, wanting everyone to feel my pain,
Before, my mind would not let thoughts of love enter,guarding my heart with grief and fear,
Before, my nights brought only darkness,like a black veil covering my wounds.
Before, my life held only emtiness and contemp,anger guiding me through the days..........
But on the day I found you, a brilliant light shown down on me,
as you breathed new life into me and renewed my will for living.....
My heart almost burst with a joy I have never felt before,
And my body was filled with a love so strong it overcame me,
My life was so full of hopes and dreams,
Then your new words cut me like a sharp knife,
" I am not ready for a new love,
I don't want a new man "
As my heart shattered,
as the tears fell,
as my body trembled,
I left,
feeling empty again,
lost in the wilderness of this cruel world,
as if there would be no tomorrow,
no love for me,
no one to share my life with,
alone and in the darkness of night,
wondering around in the cold, cruel nightmares that used to be dreams........
