About The Artist

I began making bears in October 1998 when my best friend, Nancy, who has made Victorian bears for years, moved out of state.

Well..I bought a pattern and a piece of fur to practice on. Before I got the first one made at work, I was asked if he was for sale....one thing led to two, etc.

In 1975 I began collecting Koala Bears. In 1992 I became a "Nana" for the first time. In searching for a screen name when I went on line I came up with NanaKoala-thus "Nana Bears" was born.

I truly enjoy designing my own patterns. With each new one, I can hardly wait to get the fur cut out and the bear assembled to see the outcome.

My children include a son in the Air Force, stationed at Fairchild AFB, Spokane, WA,a daughter with three children in Kansas, another daughter in the Air Force at Dyess AFB in Abileen,TX, who has one son, and my Web Master/Son who will have his Bachelor's Degree in Computer Network Security by December 2006. (Girlfriend: Bobbie, who graduated from Boston University May 2005 and will be attending college in Charlottesville, VA this Fall!) We are scattered, but thanks to the world of computers-we are still linked.

I never dreamed I would get this deep when I started making bears as gifts for family and friends! But it is a great sense of accomplishment and in the past 6 years I have gotten my business names (by teddy bears & real estate) all over Virginia and the world! It is exciting to be in town with my logo shirt on & someone say "Oh, you're the Teddy Bear Lady" (Now I'm the "Teddy Bear Real Estate Lady"...)
