Badge does: The speed of all Pokemon increases a little. It lets you use FLY anytime once you have the HM.
Use: I suggest you use a Geodude from Mt. Moon. Use it's rock moves like Earthquake, Rock Throw and Rock Slide.
Erika: Celadon City
Has: Level 29 Victreebell, Level 24 Tangela, and Level 29 Vileplume.

Use: I suggest you use a fire Pokemon like Charizard. If you didn't choose Charmander at the start, then use a good level Growlithe or Vulpix. You can get them on route 7.
Sabrina: Saffron City
Has: Level 38 Kadabra, Level 37 Mr. Mime, Level 38 Venomoth, and Level 43 Alakazam.
Gives: MarshBadge
Badge does: Pokemon up to level 70 obey you. Any higher, they are unruly.
Use: Butterfree is a good choice indeed. Use it's bug moves. Put them to sleep with Sleep Powder then use all your bug moves.
Koga: Fuchsia City
Has: Level 37 Koffing, Level 39 Muk, Level 37 Koffing, and Level 43 Weezing.
Gives: Soul Badge
Badge does: The defense of all Pokemon increases a little. It lets you
use SURF any time once you have the HM.
Use: Build up a good Cubone or Sandshrew. Try making them evolve to Marowak or Sandslash. Use all the ground type moves to defeat Koga's poison types.
Blaine: Cinnabar Island
Has: Level 42 Growlithe, Level 40 Ponyta, Level 42 Rapidash, Level 47 Arcanine.
Gives: VolcanoBadge
Badge does: Your Pokemon's special abilities increase a bit.
Use: If you got a Squirtle at the beginning of the game, you'll have a well trained Blastoise to use againt Blaine. If you don't catch a Staryu on Cinnabar and build it up, or give your Eevee a water stone to make it evolve into Vaporeon.
Giovanni: Viridian City
Has: Level 45 Rhyhorn, Level 42 Dugtrio, Level 43 Nidoqueen, Level 45 Nidoking, and Level 50 Rhydon.
Gives: Earth Badge
Badge does: All pokemon will obey you!!!
Use: Any good level water Pokemon will fit in fine for this battle. I suggest you use a Pokemon with Hydro Pump. Staryu, Blastoise and Vaporeon all learn it around level 45.
