REPORT ON THE REFORMASI ROYAL GATHERING ON 17TH OCT 98

The theme of this week’ s gathering was “PERHIMPUNAN RINTIHAN RAKYAT KEPADA RAJA-RAJA” (PLIGHT OF THE NATIONS TO THE RULERS)

At this stage, our movement, we reckon that it is appropriate that the cause that we the rakyat are struggling for should be brought to the attention of the King & Rulers. This is in view of the fact that this is the correct time for them to intervene and play a more important role in resolving this plight of the rakyat.

The following are the sequence of event that took place during our gathering on the 17th of Oct 98. As planned, we the REFORMASI supporters started to congregate along Jalan TAR at about 3:30pm…despite the fact that we were told to disperse and move along by the police when they saw us being together in a group of 3 or more. So that was what we did. We moved to another spot and were approached again by the police and we moved yet to another spot. This went on until the crowd got too big and the police were helpless to ask us to disperse and move.

There were about 20,000 of us, the REFORMASI supporters. We were very proud to be there…..We all had the same mission and vision. Our mission was to make Mahathir and the government realize that we, the rakyat DO NOT WANT MAHATHIR ANYMORE AS THE MALAYSIAN PRIME MINISTER and our vision is to see MALAYSIA WITHOUT MAHATHIR. LONG LIVE REFORMASI……LONG LIVE ANWAR……DOWN WITH MAHATHIR AND HIS CRONIES!!!

We noticed that there were a great number of policemen comprising of the FRU(s), Field Force Police (Polis Hutan) and other police personnel being deployed all along the area of Jalan TAR where we had earlier gathered on the 10th of Oct. 98. They were armed to the teeth with a baton and a 3-feet bamboo stick plus a shield. A number of them even had guns and bullets pouches strapped to their bodies.

We had come in peace for a very peaceful demonstration.

The police thought that we would have been terrified to see them in such a manner. Well…..We were not…and we were then more determined to see that our vision would materialize very soon. The Reformasi supporters came in all shapes and sizes…..young and old…regardless of neither race nor religion.

All lanes leading to the area of the section of the Jalan TAR, where we had an earlier successful anti-Mahathir gathering on the 10th Oct 98, were sealed off.

At around 4pm the number of our supporters started to fill up Jalan TAR further down …starting from the SOGO area which was still opened to the public. As the strength of our brothers and sisters increased, pictures of DSAI were distributed and everyone was seen waving the pictures and showing them to the passing traffic comprising of the REFORMASI convoy.

When the crowd became bigger and bigger, the police finally decided to allow the gathering to go on and they were seen to be controlling the traffic. At this stage everything was going on smoothly. The REFORMASI supporters were very well disciplined and there was not a slightest indication that we intended to create any form of chaos or riot and far from being unruly.

At around 5.30 PM both sides of road along Jalan TAR which stretched some 3-kilometer were filled with us the REFORMASI supporters. We chanted ‘REFORMASI’ , UNDUR MAHATHIR UNDUR (Resign Mahathir Resign’

We sang a patriotic song ‘PEJUANG REFORMASI’ (Barisan Kita). At this time our REFORMASI convoy was seen displaying banners etc. Their displayed support for this just cause received cheers from us.

Every one of us was filled with high REFORMASI spirit and the crowd was seen to stretch further and further down the road. We were then greeted by a surprise. Our beloved Datin Sri Dr Wan Azizah was also with us to give moral support. She was among our REFORMASI convoy. She stood up from the sunroof of her vehicle. We showed our appreciation for her presence by rushing to her vehicle. Then realizing that that would cause a traffic jam, we then moved away from the center of the road so that the traffic could move smoothly again. That clearly showed that we were not out to create havoc or chaos and we had never been.

Our presence at all anti-Mahathir rallies were to show our support for DSAI and to seek justice and to voice out our demand for Mahathir to step down gracefully.

At around 6.30 as per agenda we dispersed and started to head for the National mosque for our solat Magrib. We walked to the mosque peacefully without causing any traffic jam. After performing our solat Magrib we assembled at the compound of the mosque and then proceeded to walk to the National Palace. We wanted to pledge our loyalty to the King and to inform His Royal Majesty of our problem that we are now facing and to submit some resolutions…we hope and pray that the King and all the Rulers will be able to resolve this through the royal institution.

We started to walk to the palace full of spirit and determination. Those waiting outside the mosque joined us, who were mostly our non- – Muslim brothers and sisters. We walked hand in hand and every step we took was a step nearer to out vision and we were all proud to be there. The feelings inside each and every one of us was indescribable …we felt wonderful…joyful and special.

When we arrived at the gate of the palace, we found that there was not that many policemen surrounding the area.. Our numbers far exceeded them. Looking at our numbers the police decided to allow us to settle down and voice out our memorandum to the King.

We all pledged our loyalty to the King by saying “Daulat Tuanku” several times and finally one of our REFORMASI brothers read out the resolutions.

By then there was still no FRU trucks in sight…perhaps they were caught in the massive traffic leading to the palace. We had made a BIG MISTAKE of allowing the traffic to pass through the crowd which then had enabled the FRU trucks to reach in front of the palace and started giving us warning to disperse. Since we have succeeded to deliver our message to the King, we decided to walk back to Dataran Merdeka .

When this was going on we could see some of our strong supporters were beaten and dragged by the police. We were moving away from the palace and yet these flying pigs still sprayed water cannons on us and hit and kicked some of our unfortunate brothers and sisters. Yes…my friends…these bastards hit the ladies too and some of the ladies were dragged away too.

That was not all that happened…when we reached the Natioanl Mosque we could see that these bastards (the police) were waiting for us. It was a trap actually…they dispersed us from the National Palace and directed us towards Dataran Merdeka …so that they could hit us.

We did not proceed to Dataran Merdeka…some of us went to the National Mosque while some just sat down infront of DAYABUMI. Infact some of us had gone to get some food at the McDonalds in DAYABUMI.

Suddenly we saw our brothers and sisters running…the FRU(s) and the Filed Force Police were chasing them. Some ran to the mosque and some ran to DAYABUMI and the rest ran further away.

Those whom these bastards caught were beaten…. Among them were beaten were A LADY WITH HER CHILD AND AN OLD MAN.

Those who had run to McDonalds DAYABUMI got them a seat and those who did not get a seat queued up to order food. These bastards (the dogs of Mahathir) with their shields, baton and bamboo sticks went into McDonalds and shouted at all of us there. The green uniformed bastard from the Field Force Police Unit beat up those who were queuing up without even asking or investigating anything and one of them shouted “KERANA KAMU SEMUA KAMI TAK MAKAN SAMPAI SEKARANG……UNTUK MELAYAN KERENAH KAMU SEMUA” (BECAUSE OF YOU ALL…WE HAVE YET TO EAT……JUST TO ENTERTAIN YOUR DOINGS)

They even frisked some of our brothers and asked why were they sweating. Is it now illegal to sweat????

At that same time those who just came down from the escalator were beaten without any questions being asked.

And for those who ran to the National Mosque, these bastards pursued us at the mosque…These bastards did not even respect the mosque…they came into the mosque with their boots.

What are these bastards trying to do??? Is it because they need to be seen that they were working by beating people up…? So that a satisfactory report could be given to the VILLIANEOUS MAHATHIR????

WE DONT RESPECT THE POLICE FORCE ANY MORE!! WE DON’T EVER WANT ANY OF OUR CHILDREN TO BECOME A MEMBER OF THE POLICE FORCE. THEY ARE A BUNCH OF UNPROFESSIONAL AND IRRESPONSIBLE BASTARDS BEING LED LIKE DOGS BY THE DEVIL FROM HELL NAMELY MAHATHIR.

WE HAVE RESTRAINED FROM USING WEAPONS AND THE LIKES BUT IF BLOODSHED THESE BASTARDS WANT THAN BLOODSHED BE IT. AN EYE FOR AN EYE…YOU BASTARDS WILL PAY FOR EVERY DROP OF BLOOD THAT BLED ON 17TH OCT 98.

REMEMBER…WE ARE NOW MORE DETERMINED AND NO MATTER WHAT ONCE A WEEK WE WILL STILL CONTINUE WITH THE REFORMASI RALLY.

TAKE NOTE…WE WILL STILL ATTEND OUR WEEKLY RALLY THIS SATURDAY 24TH OCTOBER 98 AND WE WILL SEE HOW YOU BASTARDS BEHAVE…IF THE SAME THING HAPPENS AGAIN THIS SATURDAY 24TH OCTOBER 98…THEN WE WILL COME ARMED FOR THE 31ST OCTOBER 98 RALLY. THAT IS OUR PROMISE.
