Cochran passed away from lupus last year.

Howie Dorough's Statement
Regarding The Death of his Sister
September 23, 1998
Regarding the recent passing of my sister,
Caroline Cochran, the outpouring of emotion
and sympathy I have received from fans and
the media has been overwhelming. Caroline was
only 37 when she lost her battle with the
disease called Lupus. This disease affects
the immune system, often striking down young
people like my sister in her prime.
Instead of sending cards or gifts in memory
of my sister, I would request that a donation
be made to the fund I have established in her
name. This donation would help the study of
this disease so that hopefully a cure can be
found and no other family will have to suffer
a loss such as ours.

Last year, Brian underwent heart surgery to
correct a congenital heart defect. Here is
the official statement regarding that

May 11, 1998
Brian Littrell of the Backstreet Boys has
undergone his heart surgery. He came through
the operation with flying colors and is
resting comfortably at an undisclosed
location according to family members. Updates
on his condition will follow.
Brian appreciates all the love and concern
that his fans have shown during the past few
weeks. Please be advised that Brian has asked
that in lieu of flowers, cards and gifts,
fans should instead send a donation to the
Brian Littrell Endowment Fund for Pediatric
Cardiology, which has been set up in his name
to benefit other children with cardiac
problems.
