L.A. MEMORIAL HOSPITAL - EMERGENCY ROOM

The medics rush the stretcher down the corridor, screaming medical jargon at each other as Lyndsay moans in agony, her body severely burned from the explosion. Through the chaotic and fast paced action in the hospital, only jarred fragments of words even remotely phase Lyndsay.

"Third degree...explosion...burned...fire...critical...dead...dead...DEAD!"

Lyndsay screams in pain, and the nurses restrain her as she convulses on the stretcher.

MEANWHILE

On the other side of the hospital, Taylor runs along with doctors and nurses, who are pushing Alex down the hallway on a stretcher also. Alex’s face is contorted with pain, and Taylor, unharmed, runs along with him, desperate to make sure he is alright.

"Alex," Taylor yells over the medical code of the nurses, "You’re going to be alright! OK? Just tough it out buddy! Please!"

Alex grabs Taylor’s hand. He grunts quietly, "Candice? Where is she? Find...find her, make sure she’s ok! Please!"

Taylor nods as the doctors push Alex away. He stands there, alone and frightened. He turns around and runs in the other direction.

Taylor ‘s eyes are welled with tears of sadness and angst, as he huddles down the hallway to the waiting room where Candice and Amanda are sitting next to each other, uncomfortably.

"Hey, are you guys OK?" Taylor says, looking at the two. They are tattered and torn, blankets around their shoulders and band-aids stuck on various places on their bodies.

Candice looks at Taylor, his jacket torn off and his bootineer burned. His tux is tattered and old, dirt plastered all over his face and body. She stands up, approaches him, and gives him a long hug.

Taylor is hesitant at first, too engulfed in emotional despair to understand or react. Then he slowly wraps his arms around Candice and gives her a long tight hug. A tear rolls down Candice’s cheek, and Taylor’s eyes become more drenched with solitude.

"I’m so sorry." Candice whispers, holding Taylor. Amanda looks on, finally able to put her ego aside in this time of emergency. She stands up, walks to the two, and joins in on the hug. The three stand together for awhile, head to head, until Taylor breaks away.

"How is she?" Taylor asks, scared, referring to Amber.

"Still no word from the Doctor." Candice says. "But it’s not good. She’s critical. She has internal bleeding and second degree burns."

"Oh God!" Taylor says. He crumbles. Amber sees this, shakes her head, and stealthily sneaks away from the two.

ALEX AND TAYLOR’S DORM ROOM - USC

Amanda has band-aids covering her head and body. She is injured, but also sick and tired of this semi-charmed life. She looks at the door of Alex’s dorm, reminiscing on the good times, and the bad.

She sighs, a tear forming in her glistening eyes, and sticks the note to the door. She looks at it for a second, struggling with her decision. She knows it is life altering, but she knows she cannot co-exist with these people and remain mentally stable.

With that, she turns and walks away. Out of sight. Forever.

~~ Dear Alex~~

We have definitely gone through some good times together, and although I regret having to write you this letter, I think it’s the best way at this time. IN spite of recent events, I still love you dearly as a friend, and leaving Los Angeles is very hard for me.

But its proved to be too hard for me to handle. Please, Alex, forgive me. And take care. I will try and keep in contact as much as I can.

~~Sincerely, Amanda~~

BACK IN THE WAITING ROOM

Taylor and Candice sit together in the waiting room, dead quiet. They are horrified, and it is apparent in their shocked and angry expressions. IN the other room, Amber and Alex were battling for their lives, and here they were, defenseless.

"UGH! This is driving me crazy!" says Taylor. Candice looks at him and hugs him.

"I'm sorry Taylor, that this had to happen. You don’t deserve this. You are a great guy and you deserve only happiness. I’m just so sorry that your day was ruined like this." Candice says, heartbroken.

Candice is interrupted by a doctor.

"Alex is now out of critical condition and is accepting visitors. I’m glad to say that he is going to make it, and he will be fine." Says the doctor.

Candice wails in happiness and gets up to go talk to Alex. Inside the hospital room, Alex lays exhausted. He looks at Candice, and a large loving smile creeps across his face.

"Oh thank God you’re here."

Candice runs to him and they embrace. They embrace for a long time, cherishing the other’s warmth, love and sincerity. Candice pulls away, tears in her eyes, and gazes at Alex in happiness.

"I’m so glad that we both made it out alive. I love you so much, Candice! I don’t know what I would do with out you." Alex pleads.

Candice smiles at him, "I am beginning to realize now how strong our bond really is. I mean, you sacrificed yourself to save me out there. That’s how I know you really love me. That’s how I know this is real. I love you Alex!"

Alex smiles. "I just hope Amber and the others are OK. Any word on Lyndsay?"

MEANWHILE

Taylor gasps, his hand clasping his mouth. "My God."

"She died just a few minutes ago," Says the doctor, "She had severe third degree burns, head trauma, and blood loss. We tried, but could do nothing to save Lyndsay."

Taylor stands there. Shocked. After all that had happened and Lyndsay’s supposed victory, she ended up leading to her own demise.

"What happens now?"

"Well we’ll contact the family and have them arrange things. The next steps are very crucial, and I am sorry for your loss."

Taylor is heartbroken. Even though this was the girl that had tried to kill him, he feels a deep and painful sadness within him. He felt guilty. After all, most of the things that Lyndsay had said just before activating the detonator were true. He had ruined her.

"What about Amber?" Taylor asks.

The doctor frowns. He replies, "Amber: Taylor I am very sorry, but Amber..."

"Yes?"

"Amber is in a coma."
