CHAPTER 10
Minda got home from the mall at 12:30 pm. Minda put the bags in her room and went to check her messages.
She had 4 messages.
'Message one' BEEP
"Hey Freckles it's Justin I just want to know whats goin' on so call me back bye."
'Message two' BEEP
"Hi Minda it's your mom. I just want to tell you your brother Evan just got in a car accident. So please call me back a soon as possible!! Ok I love you bye."
Minda stopped her answering machine and called her mom.
"Hello?" "Mom? It's Minda what happened to Evan?" "He got into a bad car accident on the 101 freeway!" "Is he alright?" "Well he's in the hospital right now and your dad is there but we need you to come home for a couple of days so we can stay at the hospital do you think you can do that?" "Mom I'll try but I can't guarantee everything because I just got a new job and it's my second day of work but I'll see what I can do ok?" "That'll be great" "Ok well I have to go now so I'll talk to you later bye mom." "Bye"
Minda hung up the phone and listened to the rest of her messages.
'Message three' BEEP
"Hey Minda it's JC. I guess your not home right now so I'll talk to you later bye."
'Message four' Beep
"How come you told Janine and not me? Well anyways you know who this is so call me back bye"
'End of messages'
Minda sat down on her couch and picked up the phone.
Minda pressed the talk button on the phone and
dialed
Justin's pager number.
'Hey you've reached Justin. Leave me a message or
your
number and I'll get back to you asap bye' BEEP
This time Minda just typed in her number and then
hung
up. A couple of minutes later her phone rang.
"Hey Justin" "How did you know it was me?" "I'm
psychic!!" "Wow!! You are?" "Yep" "Anyways what
do
you want?" "Some advice" "Oh advice from me? I
feel
so honored." "You should!" "So what's wrong?" "My
brother was in a car accident and my mom wants me to
go home for a couple of days." "What's the
problem?"
"A couple of days will include Monday and Tuesday
and
maybe Wednesday." "So?" "I just started the new
job
on Friday don't you think Lou will get mad if I
already on my second, third, and fourth days of work
I
have to take off?" "If you tell him about your
brother I'm sure he'll understand." "Your sure?"
"Yeah, Lou knows what family is. I mean if it was
like someone was graduating and you could see it on
a
tape then he would say no but your brother was in a
car accident and is in the hospital no less so he'll
understand." "Your absolutely positive?" "Yes"
"Ok"
"So what's new?" "Nothing I just talked to you
yesterday what possibly could be new that is worth
telling you?" "Freckles everything is worth telling
me" "You know what? Your ego just gets bigger and
bigger everyday doesn't it?" "No not everyday" "Uh
huh!" "So what happened?" "I went to the mall and
spent a little under $200." "On what?" "Clothes."
"Well did you get a lot of clothes or just a little
on
expensive stuff?" "A lot of clothes." "Oh ok. Now
let's get off this stupid little subject and ask me
the real question you thought of when I said what's
new." "What do you mean?" "You want to know what
to
do because JC called you." "No!!" "Just admit it"
"I didn't think of that once in this whole
conversation!!" Minda said knowing he was right.
"Freckles I know these things and I can tell it in
your voice!!" "Oh alright!! What should I do since
JC called me?" "That's my girl!! Well you should
call him and act like nothing happened." "What do
you
mean?" "Just start up a normal convo. Like ask him
what to do about your brother even though you have
an
answer." "Ok go on." "Talk to him about the kiss."
"What?!!" "Talk to him about the kiss" "Justin I
can't to that!!" "Why not?" "Because when I tried
to
do that last night he just kissed me again!!!!"
"Well
it'll be over the phone so you won't have to worry
about that." "Ok whatever. Anyways I have to go.
Shayna called earlier and wants me to call her."
"Shayna?!" Justin asked in an interested voice.
"Yeah
Shayna why?" "No reason just did she talk about
me?"
"Yeah." "What about?" "She was mad that I told you
about me and JC before I told her and Janine." "Oh.
Well I 'll talk to you later then." "Ok bye Justin"
"Bye freckles."
Minda hung up the phone and decided to go online.
After Minda logged on she decided to see who was on
and came across a screen name that she hadn't seen
in
a long time.

freckles_21: I just got a new job!!

freckles_21: I'm working for a record company called
Transcon Records.
dolphin_chik: Are you a recording artist?
freckles_21: No! I'm in charge of making the web
page
for this band called nsync.
dolphin_chik: I haven't heard of them before.
freckles_21: Yeah they're new to America.
dolphin_chik: So are any of them cute?
freckles_21: Yeah
dolphin_chik: Oooooh do tell. LoL!!
freckles_21: Oh my gosh Chelsea you haven't changed
at
all!!
dolphin_chik: I know!
freckles_21: Well there's Justin, JC, Lance, Chris,
and Joey.
dolphin_chik: Go on.
freckles_21: Justin is like my new best friend and
he
has an ego you wouldn't believe but he's sweet. JC
is
the more down to earth one of the group and he's the
one I've got the hot's for. Lance is the gentleman
of
the group and he's pretty quiet when you first meet
him but once you get to know him he opens up more.
Chris is the jokes-ter!! He is always playing jokes
on
people. And Joey is the flirt!! I think when he
goes
to clubs he spends the whole time picking up girls.
dolphin_chik: Sounds like a great group of guys!
How
long have you known them?
freckles_21: Counting today two days! LoL
dolphin_chik: Wow! From the way you talk about them
it
sounds like you've known them your whole life!!
freckles_21: It feels like it too! But after
spending
two hours with them you get that feeling. They're
really great!
dolphin_chik: Go back to this JC guy.
freckles_21: What about him?
dolphin_chik: You said that he was the one one you
had
the hot for!!
freckles_21: Oh, well he has blue eyes, dark brown
hair, he's about 5'11, and he is sooooooo sweet!!
And
a good kisser!
dolphin_chik: Minda!! You have known these guys for
two days and already you've kissed one of them?"
freckles_21: Yeah.
dolphin_chik: What's the whole story?
freckles_21: Well we all went to a club last night,
me, Shayna, Janine, and the guys, and afterwards JC
drove me home and I invited him in for coffee and he
had to tell me something that he didn't get a chance
to earlier, so he he told me that he had feelings
for
me then he kissed me!
dolphin_chik: WOW!! LoL
freckles_21: Yep!
dolphin_chik: So how is Shayna and Janine?
freckles_21: They're good! We all miss you! :(
dolphin_chik: I know I miss you guys too.
freckles_21: The offer still stands for you to come
live with me.
dolphin_chik: I know. It's just I belong in
California not Florida.
freckles_21: Hey!! I might be coming home for a
couple
of days!!
dolphin_chik: Why?
freckles_21: Evan got into a car accident and my mom
needs me around for a couple of days until he is ok
to
leave the hospital.
dolphin_chik: I'm sorry :(
freckles_21: It's ok he'll be fine.
dolphin_chik: Yeah he probably will.
freckles_21: anyways as much as I would like to
continue our little chat I have to go but I'll tell
Shayna and Janine you said hi ok?
dolphin_chik: Ok bye
freckles_21: Bye

Minda checked her email really quickly then
disconnected. As soon as she disconnected from her
computer phone line her regular line rang.
"Hello?" "Hi Minda it's JC what's up?" "Nothing
much. How about you?" "Me neither." "Hey I have a
question." "What?" "My brother Evan recently got
into a car accident." "That's horrible is he ok?"
"Well he's in the hospital right now and my mom
wants
me to come home for a couple of days but I don't
know
if Lou will like the fact that I have to go on the
first couple of days of my job." "Are you asking
what
he'll say or are you asking if you shouldn't ask him
at all and tell your mom that you can't?" "I'm
asking
what he'll say." "He'll probably be a little
annoyed
with the fact you have to leave but he'll
understand."
"Sounds good" "Yep" "Hey do you want to talk
about
what happened last night?" "Yeah but I'm not sure
what to say." "Me neither." "Well, why don't I
start
by saying that I'm sorry." "Why would you be
sorry?"
"Because I shouldn't have kissed you so soon." "JC
it's ok things happen. Sometimes for a reason and
sometimes just because." "Do you think this
happened
for a reason?" "Yeah I think it did." "I'm sorry
for
all the questions but I'm fascinated with other
people's views on things like these." "It's ok I am
too." "So what do you think the reason was?" "Well
it was more like a lesson." "Go on." "I think we
were being told that we obviously have feelings for
each other but we need to give it time." "Yeah
that's
what I was thinking too!" "And that even though we
have feelings for each other it won't get in the way
of our friendship." "Where did you get that from?"
"Well take our conversation for instance even though
we both felt awkward last night we are still able to
talk about what happened like friends would." "I
get
it now that's a really good outlook on things!"
"Thanks" Minda said feeling so relieved from
talking
about the kiss. "Your welcome." "Hold on there is
someone on my other line." "Ok."
Minda clicked over.
"Freckles let me up." "What?" "I'm at the gate
pleeeeeeease let me up?" "Ok hold on. There come
up." "Thanks see ya in a few."
Minda clicked back over to JC.
"JC?" "I'm still here." "Ok." "Do you need to
go?"
"Yeah actually I do." "Ok I'll talk to you later."
"K thanks for calling bye." "Bye"
Minda hung up the phone and went to open the door
for
Justin. As soon as she unlocked it the door busted
open and hit Minda in head.
"OW!!" Minda said with her hand on her head. "Are
you
ok?" "Do I look ok?" "No?" Justin said tilting his
head. "Wow! There is a brain in your head!!" "Hey
do you want me to help you or not?" "Help me." "Ok
then go sit at the table." "Ok." "Where is the ice
pack?" "In the freezer door." "Ok hold on." Justin
said and went into the kitchen and came back with an
ice pack. "Here put this where I hit you." "Ok."
Minda took the ice back and put it on her forehead.
"So what were you doing before I came?" "Talking to
JC." Minda said with a bit of a smile. "Really?
What
were you talking about?" Justin said excitedly. "My
brother and the kiss." "And....?" "And we just
discussed how it happened for a reason and how it
won't get in the way of our friendship." "Wow!! I
could never talk about something like that, that
way."
"Really?!" Minda said surprised. "Yeah." "Well
that's because your not as open I guess!!" "You
better watch it freckles!! You're getting really
close to deserving that smack in the head!" "Oh
really?" "Yes!" "Well I'm not the one that came
bursting in through the door with no warning what so
ever!!" "So." Justin said being snobbish. "Anyways
what did you come by for?" "Just to see you and ask
if you wanted to go to a movie that starts in 20
minutes." "What movie?" "Does it matter?" "No"
"Ok
then let's go." "Ok"
Minda put on her shoes and got her coat and her and
Justin went to the movies.
