"So got any girlfriends?" Minda asked. "Nope you?" "Nope not any girlfriends!" Minda said with a laugh. "You knew what I meant." "I know. Um... well I kinda have this thing going on but it's not official or anything." "Give me more detail." "Well we're both really confused on our feelings for each other and when I get back we're gonna sort things out." "Oh so I shouldn't try anything?" "No." Minda said laughing. "Oh well maybe next time." "So how old are you now?" "19. I'll be 20 in a couple of weeks." "Cool." "Yep. So about this guy your kinda seeing, does he have a name?" "Yeah his name is JC." "JC? What kind of name is that?" "It stands for Joshua Chasez." "Oh so he's French." "His dad is." "So does he know French?" "I guess. He's never said anything to me." "How long have you known him?" "Since Thursday." "Wow you guys have a real history." "He works with me." "Oh yeah I remember your mom telling me something about you getting a new job." "Wow she tells you a lot." "Yep so hows it going?" "Well I officially started on Friday, but had to take Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday off." "Are you leaving Thursday?" "No I'm leaving Wednesday in the afternoon." "Too bad it would've been really nice to have you stay longer." "Yeah it would have but I really need to get to my job." "Well we're here are you glad to be home?" "Yep let's go inside."
They got out of the car and walked up the walkway to the front door. Minda knocked on the door and a small girl about 5 yrs. old answered it.
"Aunt Minda!" "Hi Claire." Minda said as she walked in and hugged her niece. "How are you?" "Good. Did you bring me anything?" "Oh sweety if I had known you were gonna be here I would have but I didn't." "That's alright." "Where's Grandpa and Grandma?" "Grandma is in her room asleep and Grandpa is at the hospital with my daddy." "Where's your mom?" "In the art room." "Ok I'm gonna go say hi to her." "Ok."
Minda walked out into the art room to go see her brother Daniel's wife Julian.
"Hey Jewls!" "Minda! Wow you look so grown up come here give me a hug." "Wow! I hardly recognized Claire last time I saw her she was a tiny little thing!!" "Yep so fill me in on life in Orlando." "Well I will as soon as I say hi to my mother!" "Ok I walk with you in the house."
The two women walked in the house and Minda walked into her mom's room.
"Mom I'm home." Her mom rolled over to face her and sat up. "Oh hi honey how was your flight?" "It was great. So what's the deal with Jonny?" "What do you mean?" "Why did he come and pick me up?" "He wanted to." "Oh ok well I'm gonna go back in the other room and let you sleep some more ok?" "Ok bye."
Minda walked into the hallway and decided to check in her old room first. When she walked in, it was like it never changed. Her bed was still in the same spot and all her dolls were in their place. When she finished looking around she closed the door and went into the living room to talk with Julian.
"So any guys?" Julian asked as soon as Minda sat down. "Well there is this one but I don't know." "What don't you know?" "Can we go somewhere a little more private like my room?!" Minda said with a smile. "Yeah. Claire you stay in her and watch t.v. I'm going to talk with aunt Minda in the other room ok?"
"Ok mommy." "Don't worry Julian I'll stay with her." "Thanks Jonny."
Then they walked into Minda's room and sat on the bed.
"So who is he and where did you meet him?" "Gosh one at a time. Well if you haven't heard I started a new job at a place called Transcontinental Studios. They manage different music groups and I was hired to make a web site for a new upcoming group called *N SYNC. It's a group of five guys that sing and dance. There's JC, Justin, Lance, Joey, and Chris. I kinda have this thing going on with JC." "Girl what do you mean by kinda?" "Well ok, on Friday night I went to a club with all the guys, Shayna, and Janine. Earlier that day I went to lunch with JC and we got to know a lot about each other and I gained a little crush. Anyways after the club when JC drove me home I invited him in for some coffee. Well we were talking and then he said that he felt he'd known me his whole life and I said the feeling was mutual well then he kissed me and..." "He kissed you?" "Yeah." "Like how?" "Oh my gosh Jewls he has the softest lips!! He can kiss!" "Ok now we're getting somewhere go on." "Well we kissed and then we pulled apart and kissed again then I had to get the coffee. When I came back we had a little discussion and then I startled babbling and he kissed me again." "Wait, wait, wait. He kissed you 3 times?" "Yeah." "Was it only him doing the kissing or did you pitch in?" "Like how do you mean?" "Did he start the kiss all three times?" "No just the first and the last." "Ok go on." "Well on the third kiss he wouldn't let go until my phone rang." "Your phone rang?!" "Yeah it's was Justin." "Who's Justin?" "One of the guys of *N SYNC." "Ok." "Well after he called, JC and I decided that it was getting late so he left." "What happened yesterday?" "He called me and we discussed what happened but then later on in the day I went back to Justin's house with Justin and JC lives with Justin." "Ok." "So when we got to his house JC and I went to go rent some horror movies." "What did you get?" "Friday the 13th and IT!" "So what happened?" "Well I sat next to him during both movies and during Friday the 13th I didn't get scared until the very end. But during IT I was screaming and hiding in JC's arms." "Awe!" "Then he drove me home and he said he was going to miss me and he left." "I know there's more so tell me." "Today about a half hour before I left to get on the plane he came over and asked if the kiss meant anything and I said I needed time to sort things out in my mind." "Good then what happened?" "Then my friend Lance came and picked me up and I told him what happened and he said I was in love." "Well what do you think about that?" "I think he might be right but I'm still confused."
What Minda and Julian didn't know was that through this whole conversation Jonny was sitting at Minda's door listening in.
"Well I only have one thing to say." "What?" "Follow what your heart tells you not your mind because if your heart tells you that you love him you love him and if your heart tells you that you don't love him but your mind says you do and you listen to your mind you can get yourself into a lot of trouble with the wrong dissision." "What did your heart and mind tell you when you about my brother?" "My heart said I loved him but my mind said different and I followed my heart and it was right I did love him." "Thanks this helps so much my mind has cleared from so many thoughts." "So what does your heart tell you?" "Well after he kissed me it didn't say anything until this morning when I was talking to Lance and when he said I was in love my heart agreed but my mind was going crazy!" "Still I think you should give it some time."
Julian was interrupted by a knock on Minda's door.
"Come in." Minda said. Then in came Jonny. "Sorry to interrupt but I was going to get dinner and wanted to know where you wanted it from?" "Taco Bell?" "Yeah I'm with Minda taco bell." "Ok I'll be back." "Oh Jonny send Claire in here." "Ok."
A couple of minutes later Claire came in the room.
"Jonny said you wanted me." "Yeah come here." "Ok." "How would you like to play a game called call Justin?" Minda asked thinking of a mischevious plan. "Ok!" "This is what you have to do I'm going to page my friend Justin and when he calls back I want you to pick up the phone and say 'Hi superstar' ok?" "OK." Claire said with a cute little smile.
Minda paged Justin and dialed the phone number, a couple minutes later he called.
"Hi superstar!" "Freckles is that you?" "Who's Freckles?" Claire said in her little girl voice. "Who is this?" Justin asked confused. "Your worst nightmare dude!" "Oh really?" "Yeah." "How old are you?" "Five!" Claire said raising five fingers on her hand as if she was showing him. "Five?! Wow your an old women!" "No I'm not" "Then will you marry me?" "Eww! Aunt Minda he asked to me marry him and he has cooties!!" "Claire you weren't supposed to say that! Give me the phone."
"Hello?" "Well hello Aunt Minda!" Justin said in an English accent. "Stop it Justin." "So is that your niece?" "What was your first clue?" "The aunt part." "I thought so." "So hows your brother?" "I haven't seen him yet but he's in a coma." "Oh that's to bad." "Did JC mention anything to you?" "About what?" "About me." "No why what happened?" "It's a long story I'll tell you later." "Tell me now I'm willing to listen." "Ok. He came over asked me what the kiss meant to me I said I was confused and I'd tell him when I got back, and in the car on the way to the airport Lance said I was in love and so does my sister in law." "Well I agree with them and Lance isn't usually wrong about these things. He has a feeling when people are in love or hurt or something is going to happen or just stuff like that." "Well I'm starting to believe them myself but I don't know what to do I still have to think things out a little more." "That's cool." "So what happened with you and Shayna last night?" "Well we kissed twice." "Oh my gosh I'm so happy for you!!! Are you going out?" "What's that supposed to mean!!?" "Freckles don't even start!" "What?" "How come your not going out with JC?" "Ok I understand anyways I have to go dinner is here so I'll talk to you later give my love to everyone." "Ok bye." "Bye."
Minda hung up the phone and joined Julian, Claire, her brother Daniel, her mom, her dad, and Jonny in the dinning room for dinner.
During dinner the conversation was mostly about Minda's job and what has been going on with her brother too.
When Dinner was over Minda went back into her room to call JC and tell him she made it home safely.
"Hello?" "Hi JC I made it home." Minda said in a soft sweet voice. "That's great so hows your brother?" "He's in a coma but the doctor said he should slip out of it soon." "That's good." "Yep. Can I ask you something?" "Yeah." "What are your views on love?" "Love at first sight or just love?" "Both." "Well I believe in love at first sight and I believe that love works in many mysterious ways." "Ok thanks that helps." "No problem so have you seen any people you haven't in awhile?" "Yeah my next door neighbor Jonny."
Again Jonny was listening in and Minda had JC on speaker phone.
"What's wrong with him?" "Nothings wrong with him just I don't know." "How long have you known him?" "Practically my whole life." "Oh is he one of those guys that you've known your whole life and has had a crush on you his whole life?" "I don't remember him having a crush on me but yeah I guess." "Well tell him to be careful." "Why?" "Because your my girl."
"Oh really I am?" "Yeah once you clear out your mind." "JC how you put up with me I'll never know."
"Well I better get going call me tomorrow." "Ok bye." "Bye."
