CHAPTER 1

Kaitlyn was very tired, tired of everything. she knew that everything she ever dreamed of would never come true. Her father disowned her and her mother never encouraged her, much less congratulated her. She was just a 20 year old lost in misery. Her steady job as a Disneyland Florida manager was a steady annoyance. She could only feel happy around her best friend Cheyanne. But Cheyanne was soon moving to Boston for a great education at Harvard.

*I cannot believe how low I have let myself sink*

August 1,1998
(I can honestly apologize for not knowing the exact dates of everything so just bare with me.)

Kaitlyn wasn't sure why there was a meeting, but there was a meeting early in the morning for all the managers, workers and people like that when she got to work. She had a late night the night before after going clubbing with Cheyanne. She rushed into the conference room of the building and ran into a very tall, blonde man.

*Such a klutz!*

"I'm so sorry." She apologized. She didn't see his face until she looked up at him. He had the most beautiful blue eyes that sparkled in overhang light. He also had the cutest ruffle of curly hair. Her eyes immediately locked with his once they were face to face. "It's ok," he finally broke the silence,"I needed some help anyways." "Sure, I'll help you." She quickly replied.

*Who'll notice if i don't show up*

"Well, I'm looking for conference room 4B, could you help me out?"

"I'm headed there right now, I'll walk you up there."

The two walked towards the elevator and walked inside. At first the two felt awkward to say anything. But then again, it felt even more awkward not to know each other.

*What am I suppose to say to a guy this cute?*

"I'm sorry, I'm being such a stranger, my name is Justin." "Oh no, I'm sorry I never said anything first. Hello Justin, my name's Kaitlyn." She was about to shake his hand when the door to the elevator suddenly opened and a shorter blonde guy pulled Justin out.

"Justin! We've been looking for you everywhere. They're waiting for us. C'mon already", he said. "Lance wait up. Go ahead, I'll be there in a sec." Justin yelled after him.

*Something about this girl makes me interested in he. But what?*

"I'm sure you have to run along. Go ahead." She sighed. "Yah, well, nice meeting you Kaitlyn, I'll see you inside." He winked once, smiled a smile from ear to ear and ran after his friend.

*Oh yah, the meeting....ugggghhh!*

Kaitlyn was the last to get inside. She felt her head swell as everyone turn to look at her as she came through the door. She took a seat next to one of her fellow managers, Greg.

"Hey Kait, what took you?" He asked in a quiet whisper. "I woke up late. What's this all about?" "Some big concert thing."

With that she turned her head towards a tall, chubby man. He wasn't familiar to her. Yet she was interested in what he had to say.

"Good morning ladies and gentlemen. My name is Lou Pearlmen,I'm president of Transcontinetal Studios. YOur probably wondering what I'm doing here, so I'm going to have to tell you. As Mr. Jenings said, we have arranged a rather large debut concert for my latest creation: NSYNC."

*Who's NSYNC? Well, that's probably why they're having a debut concert*

"We have gathered you all here to understand your responsibility of making sure everything goes right. But we're also here to choose a kind of, well how should I put it?" Lou stopped and thought, then fially continued,"well, a temporary friend. Someone to keep these boys company. Not that they're already too much company themselves."

A few giggles and laughter echoed in the room.

"If you would be interested in the job, we'd be happy to see you in here between noon and 3pm. Which ever suits your lunch break schedule."

With that, Lou stepped off the podium and Mr. Jenings(big boss of everyone) set ground rules and responsibilities from the day leading up to the concert and the day of it. Kaitlyn at first didn't want to go, but something inside her felt excitement towards it all.

*What have I got to loose?*
