CHAPTER 3
"Oh Kaitlyn, your early. How was your ride over?" Lou said in a happy tone as she walked in the doors of Transcon. "I'm fine. The drive wasn't actually that long from my apartment to here." She answered. "Good,good. Of course you remember Diane?" He said pointing to her. She sat behind the receptionist desk to her left. Once again Diane's great sense of fashion out did her own.
*I need to take someone like that shopping with me*
"Oh yes of course, good morning Diane." "Morning dear." "Well, now that that's all settled, Diane could you take any messages I may get and have the boys to meet Kaitlyn for lunch today. Let's say the cafeteria at 1. That's okay with you right?"
Kaitlyn nodded her head yes and followed Lou thru a narrow hallway to his office. As they walked down the hallway, Kaitlyn could see the pictures of Transcon artist on the walls. Most were of course of the Backstreet Boys, since they were Lou's first creation.
"I see Transcon is very proud of BSB. They seem to be hitting it big everywhere nowadays." Kaitlyn said as she walked into Lou's office. "Yeah, I'm damn proud of them. Have a seat." He said kind of sadder.
Lou's office was full of more pictures of the Backstreet Boys and also of Nsync. They certainly looked good in their pictures. "Well Kaitlyn, you're here so that I can inform you of your job and what you will be doing for the next week or so......."
Lou continued on with how she was to mostly just keep the boys company, keep all Disney managing employees who were to work on the night before and the night of the concert in check. "Oh and Kaitlyn," he called to her before she walked out the door,"be here by ten tommorrow for your meeting with our public relations counselor. It will only be about 6 or 7 hours." "What's a public relations counselor for?" She asked bewildered. "Just to teach you how to handle press and any rumors or anything like that. It's not that hard. Every employee of Transcon go thru it." "Ok, I'll be here." "Great. Go ahead back to Diane and she'll show you around and where to meet the guys."
Kaitlyn was lost on how to get back to the front of the building.
*How do you get around this god forsaken place?*
Finally she reached the front but found the front desk empty. She decided to wait until Diane got back. She was feeling sick from going around in circles. Within a couple minutes she saw Diane walk back from a door behind the desk. "Oh my dear, did I keep you waiting?" She said concerned. "Oh no, I had to sit down for a moment anyways. It's hard to get around here by yourself." "Oh well, I'll help you with that, let me get Emily to show you around and then meet the boys for lunch."
Diane walked back into the door and came back out with another younger woman. She looked not much older than Kaitlyn herself. She had dark brown hair and sparkling blue eyes. But she was much shorter than Kaitlyn or Diane. "Kaitlyn,this is Emily, she'll be showing you around. She's one of the assistants in training here." "Hello", she shyly said.
Kaitlyn said hello to her back and was then off on a tour of the studios. "So your going to be working here too?" She asked with her back turned. "Umm, no, I work at Disney, I'm just going to keep everything in check over at the park." "Oh, so why are you here at Transcon?" "Just to go over my job format. Information of things I guess. So since when did u start working here?" "Working? Just training, Lou's my dad's brother, so he's my uncle. But that's boring stuff,let me show you you around here."
By the end of her tour, she had seen the bathrooms, offices, dance studios, recording studios, practice studios and meeting rooms. Emily had also shown her where she would go tommorrow for her meeting with the public relations counselor. "Well, that's the main tour of everything, and here we are at the cafeteria, more of a lunch room, it's not that big. I think the guys are in here already. So, you should be fine. You've met them already right?" "Yes." "Isn't JC just dreamy? Well, don't listen to me, just watch out for Joey, the one with the Superman necklace, he's a flirt." "Okay, thanks." "No problem."
Emily walked off and Kaitlyn walked into the room. The five of the guys were so busy cracking up at a joke Chris had made that at first they hadn't noticed her.
*so this is what I'm going to have to deal with? Oh yeah! I'm so fortunate...not.*
Well, she didn't know it that it would be more fun than anything she'd ever felt.
"Umm...hi?!" Kaitlyn said shyly, not knowing what to say.
Immediatly the five of the guys composed themselves and turned their attention to her. Right away Justin stood up to her and spoke,"sorry about that. We were once again laughing at Joey's stupidity. Let me re-introduce you to these knuckle heads. That's Lance as you may remember, the one with the eyes is JC, the one with the stupid smirk on his face is Joey and the immature half-wit is Chris. And of course I'm Justin. The cool, suave, debonair, hunk and of course sweet one of the group." He said and added a wink. "Of course you are J." Lance rebutled. "Also the baby kid of the group." Joey added. "Immature half-wit, haha very funny curly." Chris added with a laugh. "Man, whatever, don't listen to these guys, their all talk but no action. Have a seat."
Kaitlyn took a seat next to JC and Lance, they seemed like the only calm ones. But not for long. After awhile, Kaitlyn found herself laughing along with the rest of them. But once Emily came in they all cooled it. "I'm just getting a cup of water for Diane, don't mind me." She said with a shy grin on her face. Something told Kaitlyn that Emily wasn't there for a 'cup of water'. "Need any help Emms?" JC sweetly asked. "Oh no, I'm fine, thanks for asking though JC. Oh and by the way Kaitlyn, a Mr. Jening called for you. He said he wanted to speak with you in his office by 6pm." Emily once more grinned, but this time kept her focus on JC. When she left Justin immediately acted out Emily's puppy dog crush on JC. "She got it bad for you dawg", Justin keenly added. "Well, as much as I would like to sit and chat about crush misfortunes I have a meeting to go to." Kaitlyn said picking up her bag. "Wait a minute, do you want to go to The Deep with us tonight? It's a real cool club." Justin asked with a twinkle in his eye. "Club? Aren't you under age Justin?" She slyly asked. All the ooh's and aahh's rang out before Justin answered. "Well, I still get in anyways." "Ok, fine. Do you know where I live?" "We'll ask Diane. We'll pick you up at eight, sound good?" JC asked. "Great, eight."
With that she ran out and waved good-bye as she waved goodbye to Diane.
A few minutes after she left, Lou came into the cafeteria to get a sandwich but found the guys still there. "Hey boys, so did you have fun talking to Kaitlyn?" He said picking at a sandwich on one of the platters. "Yeah, she's great."Lance said. "Well, good, I'm glad you like her." "We all do, she's a blast." Justin added more, "really cool too."
