CHAPTER 5

Scott had called the next day as he promised. Their flight was for Monday morning around 9am. The next day and a half went by fairly quickly. Miranda spent 20 dollars on food for herself and Austin. "Randy?"

"Yeah?" She asked.

"Is the plane ride going to be scary?"

"No, it’s not. It will be over before you know it. You know what helps?"

"What?"

"If you sleep. You don’t even know you’re up in the air when you’re flying."

"Really?"

"Really." she answered, grinning at him. She then realized he was her full responsibility now, and she was his mother.

As their flight was announced she asked, "You ready sweetheart?"

"Yup." He said, gripping her hand firmly. They boarded the plane and soon took off.

After the plane ride Miranda was becoming quite nervous. What was Scott going to be like? What if he’s just luring me into a trap? These were just some of the questions running through her mind. They got off the and Miranda spotted a man holding a sign that said Miranda McKellah on it. She walked over to the man and told him that was in fact, Miranda. He was a friendly man. He greeted her with a handshake and Austin with a smile. "Come along, Miss." He said. They didn’t need to go to baggage because she only had the bags her and Austin had quickly filled at the house.

"Okay," she said, following behind him.

"Here you are." He said, opening the door to a limo. Miranda stepped back.

"Uhh, no, I don’t think this is for me."

"Yes, ma’am it is."

"Umm, okay," she said, as she took Austin’s hand and walked up to the limo. When she got inside she didn’t say a word.

"JC!" Austin screamed. "Where’s Scott?"

"I’m Scott, buddy."

"No, you JC." He replied. "And that’s Justin, and Chris, and Lance, and…I forget his name." Austin shouted, pointing as he went around the limo. "You’re the dude who likes superman right?"

"Yeah, that’s me." Joey laughed.

"Joey!!! That’s his name Randy! Right? Randy?"

"Huh?" she replied, coming out of her daze.

"Isn’t that Joey?"

"Yes, sweetie. That’s Joey."

"Surprised?" Chris asked.

"Most definitely. So this is why you were always busy JC? Now it all makes sense." She said, leaning back in the seat.

"I bet it does."

"How are you feeling?" Lance asked, looking at her for the first time.

"I’m better. My cheek hurts if I put too much pressure on it." She answered, casually.

"I’m sure it looks better then it did a couple of days ago, too." Justin said.

"Yeah, it does. I just want to say thank you to all of you. You don’t understand how much this is helping me out. For that, I will love you always." She said, smiling. "Especially you JC." They all looked at her with smiles.

"It’s the least we could do." Joey responded.

"Randy?" Austin whispered.

"Yeah?" she said whispering back.

He leaned over and talked into her ear, "Justin, has a basketball on his shirt! Does he like basketball like me?"

Miranda looked up at Justin’s shirt and smiled, "Why don’t you ask him Tin."

Austin looked at her skeptically but the proceeded to ask Justin, "Do you like basketball!?"

"I love basketball!" he said.

"Me too!" Austin replied.
