SOMEDAY
CHAPTER 1

*Flashback - November/98*

"Mom, I just wanna be a normal kid for once in my life!" pleaded Justin.
"I know, hun. But are you sure? What about your career?" asked Lynn.
"I've never been so sure, mom. I just wanna go to high school like any other teenager. I wanna go to games, Prom, Grad Nite, you know, the whole deal." the boy said.
"I understand, sweetie, but first you need to discuss this with Johnny and the rest of the guys and see what they think, ok?" the woman said.
"Yeah, I know." Justin responded.
"If that's what you really want, I'll stand by you like always." Lynn said while hugging her son.
"Thanks, mom. This means a lot to me." Justin said.

After a few weeks of meetings and arrangements, everything was settled. The other members of the group understood Justin's side. They knew he had given up a lot to join 'N Sync and that he was missing an irreplaceable experience in life. So, they felt like they owed this to their younger "brother."

The only condition set by the management team was that Justin had to stay in Orlando, where the group was based. Lynn suggested her son to attend a private school, but he didn't accept the offer. Instead, he decided to finish the second semester of his senior year at Dr. Phillips High School, which was one of the best schools in the state and ended up being the same high school Joey graduated from, back in '95.

Justin's decision didn't affect the group as much. They would perform shows every other weekend and would do photo shoots and signings during week days. Plus, they would take advantage of this "break" to work on their next album. So, everything fell into place perfectly.

*End of Flashback*

The so expected day finally arrived and Justin's new life was about to begin. He parked his car at the school, but stayed inside just observing his new future. The school was enormous, almost as big as an university. Its colors were, ironically, baby blue and dark blue with a panther as a mascot. He looked down at his watch, it read 6:30. He still had to talk to his guidance counselor, Mr. Fonnet, and see his schedule.

By 6:50, Mr. Fonnet had already given him a tour around the school and Justin knew his classes. He was going to take Chorus IV, Physics I, College Algebra, American Government Honors, Drawing 3-D, and English IV Honors. Promptly at seven o'clock he arrived at his first class, English.

He took a deep breath and opened the door. There was almost no one in the room, except for the teacher and three students. He approached the teacher and was going to introduce himself, but she spoke first:

"You must be the new student. Justin, right?!"
"Yes, ma'am." the boy responded.
"It's nice to meet you, I'm Mrs. Huffman."
"It's nice to meet you too." Justin responded.
"You may sit down wherever you please, but first I need to talk some business with you." the teacher said.
"Ok." Justin said apprehensively.
"Well, as you know, you missed the 1st semester, and we're in the middle of a Shakespearean play and we're almost finished with our vocab book. So, I think the best option is for me to assign another student to help you out. Is that ok?" Mrs. Huffman asked.
"Yeah, sure." he responded, smiling.
"Oh, good. I already know who the person is. She's my best student and a very nice girl. You'll get along just fine." the woman completed.
"Is she here yet?" asked Justin.

Right after he finished asking the question, a brunette walked in the room. However, Justin didn't see her because he had his back turned. He just realized she was there when Mrs. Huffman looked over his shoulder and said:

"Good morning, Joanna. How are you?"
I'm ok, and yourself?" the girl asked.

Just then, Justin turned around to see her. She was tall and had an athletic built. Her long brown hair was up in a loose bun and her deep green eyes were hypnotizing. She spoke softly and held herself with grace and confidence. In his eyes, she was dazzling.

"Tired, but that's besides the point." the teacher answered.

After that, Joanna turned her gaze from the teacher to the boy standing next to the old woman. He was taller than her, about 6'2. He had platinum blond hair and amazing baby blue eyes, in which she lost herself for a moment, but quickly regained her composure. His face was familiar, but she couldn't remember where she had seen it before, so she just ignored the feeling.

"Joanna, do you remember the new student I asked you to assist?" the teacher asked.
"Yep." the girl answered.
"Well, Justin, this is Joanna. Joanna, meet Justin." Mrs. Huffman introduced them. They both said hi and shook hands.

They started talking and getting to know each other a little better. When the bell rang, Joanna went to her seat. Justin looked around the now crowded room and decided to take the seat beside hers. After taking the attendance, Mrs. Huffman asked for the class' attention and started the lecture for the day. A day Justin was looking forward to.
