CHAPTER 2

Besides English, he also had American Government class with Joanna. Their teacher, Mr. Harper, assigned a project in which they were partners. Luck was on their side. They had to choose a president and write a ten page report about him. They selected Franklin D. Roosevelt. Actually, Joanna did, but Justin had no objection. After class, each went their separate ways until lunch period came.

During lunch, many girls walked up to Justin and asked for his autograph, pictures or his phone number. He tried his best to respond to their requests. Meanwhile, Joanna walked in the cafeteria and saw her new friend surrounded by a crowd of people. She caught his gaze and waved. He motioned for her to join him, and she did.

"So, what's all the fuss about?" Joanna asked him.
"Just fans asking for autographs, no biggie." Justin responded. She stared at him for a few seconds, trying to figure out who he was.
"Ha, now I know why you seemed so familiar." Joanna said triumphantly.
"You're in that famous group, aren't ya?" she asked.
"Yeah, 'N Sync. I get you're not a fan?" he questioned.
"Well, no, I'm not. But my sister is a big fan, so I've heard some of your songs. They pretty good." Joanna responded.
"Why, thank you." Justin said, smiling. "Which one is your favorite?" he asked.
"I'd have to say 'I Drive Myself Crazy'." she responded.
"Any particular reason?" Justin questioned.
"I just love the lyrics and the melody." she answered.
"Did you guys split up or something?" she asked, changing the subject.
"Oh, no. We still have shows scheduled, photo shoots, the entire promotional stuff, you know. It's just that I wanted to see what going to high school was all about. So, instead of touring, we're using this time to work on our next album."
"That's cool. You can enjoy normal life for a while." she said. Justin just smiled and continued eating. They spent the rest of lunch together, just talking. He was glad she didn't treat him like Justin from 'N Sync, but just as Justin, a regular guy who was in two of her classes. Before Justin knew, his first day of school was over.

And the second passed just as quickly as the first. After class, Justin met Joanna outside to go to her house and study.

"Do you need directions?" she asked him.
"Nah... I'll just follow you." Justin responded. She just nodded her head and went to her car. She drove about 6 minutes, with Justin following her, and finally arrived. When they went inside the house, they were greeted by Joanna's younger sister, Julie, who was sick that day and didn't go to school. Julie was a freshman and a very talkative girl. When she saw THE Justin Timberlake in her living room, the first thing she did was to pinch herself.

"No, I'm not dreaming." she said.
"Nope, Julie Bean." Joanna responded.
"Hi, I'm Justin."
"Well, duh! I know that...no, I mean, hi, I'm Julie."
"Nice to meet ya." Justin said.
"Yeah, same here." Julie said and continued "Not to be rude or anything, but what are you doing here?"
"I told you I was bringing a friend over, didn't I?" Joanna asked.
"Excuse me! You didn't happen to mention that you were bringing Justin Timberlake over." Julie said.
"He's in my English class and the teacher asked me to help him, since he missed half of the year." Joanna explained.
"You're going to DP?" Julie asked, turning her gaze from her sister to him.
"Yep, and loving it. It's a great school." he answered.
"Wow...awesome!" Julie said.
"Now, if you'll let me borrow him for just a while, he has much catching up to do." said Joanna. Julie just blushed and smiled at them.
"If you need anything, we'll be upstairs." the older girl said, while walking towards the stairs, while Justin just followed her lead. When they got to the top of the stairs, Justin could see a room full of posters of him and the group. He stopped and said:

"I'm guessing that's Julie's room." and he pointed towards the door.
"Genius" was Joanna's answer. He just laughed and shook his head.

They studied and goofed around all afternoon. Joanna's parents got home at seven o'clock and were introduced to Justin. Around 8, dinner was served. And at nine, Justin went home after a tiring, yet exciting day. When he got home, he went to his room and popped in his bed. He stared at the ceiling and began thinking.

"This can't be happening to me." he said out loud.
"Am I falling for her?" Justin asked himself. But as expected, he got no answer, just his heart that began beating faster. "No, it can't be. I mean, I've only known her for two days." he continued. After a few more minutes of talking to himself, he was asleep...
