II Chronicles 7:14 reads: If my people who are called by my name would humble themselves, pray and change their wicked ways then I will hear them from heaven, will forgive them their sin and heal their land.
"Man is his own worse enemy. Isn't it strange how the United States in the beginning supposedly believed in God and now look how everything has changed. Somehow man has begun to believe mostly in himself, rather than in the one whom created him. In God we Trust, if indeed we truly do trust in God, then why is it that we do not trust his commandments enough to revere and follow them in our life?"
Marilyn has done an exceptional job in reinforcing, what I'm sure we all remember from the days, when child rearing was an act of love. To discipline as the Bible instructs is to love divinely.
If we all would remember and revert back to the days, when guidance and love was based on Scripture (and a bounty of common sense quotes passed on from our parents and grandparents) our children would be armed with the tools they need to get on and get along in this world.
Marilyn's book caused me to reflect on my own upbringing, and I would ask that we all take on the challenge to raise our children as "My Mama Used to Say".
Thank you, Marilyn, for reminding us that our parents did know best. Some of us just thought we knew more than the ones who have walked in our shoes before us.
