Poetry From Khiry

Poetry By Khiry Malik

While You Were Away

I dreamed of bathing myself in the waters of your
kisses
Wrapping myself in a blanket of your emotions
Renaming myself with the sound of your voice
I desire to dance in your shadows
allowing the wind to be my song
-and it was then that I noticed you,
when I called to the universe for a cure to my affliction
So now I dream of you
and my desire to be. . .
I am reborn to the echo of your name. . .
trapped by the grasp of your eyes Engulfed by their sunlight
Your love (like a waterfall)
Reigns (Rains) down upon my head
dreadlocks wet from the way the tips of your fingers
run through them
and even though (Sometimes)
we speak different dialects
We remain one in hue
and in the early morn(ing)
I bathe (Shower) myself in thoughts (memories) of you
Saying your name is equivalent to preaching the gospel (to me)
and I don't mean to preach, (but)
Your kisses, laced with drops of heaven,
cause me to stumble (sometimes)
When words are not strong enough to express what I'm saying,
I rely on the sound of our hearts in simultaneous rhythm,
and they say that day dreaming is for children
Sometimes I wonder if you think of me (and what)
If I am the beam of light that you wake to in the dawn
if you (too)
pick dandelions and pluck the petals
(allowing them to hit the ground to the rhythm of a love song)
and they say that bashfulness is a teenage quality
But in my eyes,
you deserve the accolades of a queen
and so I karaoke
God's Words.

Still

Still
I spend my days worshipping the memory
of the sound of your voice
echoing through my mind
like chimes singing
the song of the wind
Still
I feel the numbness of your kiss
like clove buds on my tongue
stinging away my bad thoughts
it's been a month since the last time
we looked at each other
with the look of love
and
Still
I worry when you haven't called
Still
I feel the desire to write to you
Still
I crave the warmth of your caress
Still
I sit and dream of our memoirs
Still
I try to walk away,but Still I
feel the need to turn back and tell you
that
I Still care
about you.

ALL EYES ON US!!

As the world turns we must realize
That we are in the center of all eyes
As our chains continue to break day by day
Freedom is in view and they cannot take it away
Our ancestors paid the price for us a long time ago
Why are Black people so strong?
They still don t know
But they watch to see our method of operation
One love, one love, one strong Black nation
Heads up,
Black faces proudly looking to the sky
On the streets we've got to speak and stop passing each other by
We need to greet one another in honor of our past
If we don't pull together, our strength will weaken and weaken fast
They are looking for our weakness, a way to make us fail
America? Heaven is our rightful place
Because our ancestors have already been through hell
So how can we not speak or shake each others hand
How could we not carry out our ancestors plan
Slavery time is over. it's time to set our minds free
If we don't strive to make a better today for ourselves
Then our tomorrow will never be!!!!!!!

THANK YOU

As I stand, looking toward the eye of Heaven,
I touch my belly,fruitful with your seed,and I smile.

My Dear King, only Mother/Father God can fathom the warmth that flows through my body,
and I thank you.
I thank you for giving me the opportunity to be your queen,

I thank you for teaching me how to love,
and my king, I thank you for giving me the seed that will soon grow into our magnificent son.
and for allowing our love and hearts to thicken and intertwine like the roots of the mighty Sequoia.

And my king, as I stand there, I am filled with appreciation and gratitude towards you,
and I want you to understand that I love you with all that I have in me...............

Nubian Soul

The time on the Sun Dial reads 11:11,
Make your wish.
The ancestors all came down crumbling herb and burning Patchouli, Jasmine, and Sage.
Take your soul down to the Blue Nile and wrap yourself in the Cool Water.
Lay in the sun, my rays will comfort you as you sip Cocomango and Eve’s Apple juice.
Go as high as you can reach, gather Jamaican Plum, Papaya, and Peach., and Squeeze the nutrients from me.
C’mon, let’s lay our heads upon the Satin Pillows, reading Hypnogysms and eating pie, let’s rise from ourselves slowly like Nag Champa smoke, relax as I light Sweet Nilla and reminisce about the people of Kush.
The universe starts with U.N.I., and let us be universal,

I saw it, you and I making Black Love on the reef covered with Sandalwood trees,
speaking to the creator with Frankincense and Myrrh.
Show me your spirit and walk with me, we’ll merge and reincarnate ourselves as a soul.............
a Nubian Soul.
