OLD STUFF
This page contains stuff I worked hard on, but no longer agree with.
Can you see why?
From bands I like:
Green Day- Don't think I am getting mainstream. Green Day has done a
lot for modern punk.Without Green Day, for instance, Rancid wouldn't have gotten nearly as
much exposure as they have.Without Green Day, well, there'd be no Longview. I
don't care, I love that song!!!! They basically made it known to the MTV audience.
Besides, how could Longview not be an anthem for anyone?Who isn't bored??? And I
am sure this web page doesn't help.
The
first song I ever heard by Green Day was 2000 Light Years Away. I thought, "I hope
these guys make it big"( I was just trying to be nice). Unfortunately, they did.
Sigh.... why do all the good ones have to get famous and yucky (Green Day didn't get
snobby though, thank gosh...)? It is what happened during the Grunge era too (Nirvana...
poor Kurt). Fame can really ruin a bands creativity. I still like Green Day, I went to a
Green Day concert, it was really great. My dad even really enjoyed it. What I like about
Green Day is Billie Joe's voice. It's very punk.
Green Day's early music ( Kerplunk and 1,039 Smoothed out Slappy Hours)
is really awesome. I am proud of them for being famous and all. Plus their little
Woodstock instance was just what punk music needed then. Green Day's lyrics are about fun
things and various weird things such as dressing in drag and things breaking.
My favorite Green Day album: 1,039 Smoothed
Out Slappy Hours ...............................................
My favorite Green Day song: Longview or F.O.D.
From Concert Reviews
Green Day- (I UNFORTUNATELY LOOK BACK ON THIS INCIDENT IN GRIEF, SELLOUT) I was listening to the radio at about 6 at night when I heard Green Day was coming. Of course I went nuts and screamed to my dad to take me. I found out when tickets went on sale and everything. They were coming to a festival a local radio station had here. (I didn't care about any of the other bands coming, but when I got there I cared about the Deftones...) Of course there were other bands ( Foo Fighters) so the tickets sold out in less than thirty minutes. And of course, we didn't get any. My dad knew how much I liked Green Day and he kinda liked them so he got scalped tickets. $75 a ticket!! It was worth it though.
I remember Green Day was playing at 7:30, after the Foo Fighters, so I went and watched the Deftones while the Foo Fighters played. 7:15 came around and I rushed back to where we were sitting and got situated. When Green Day's crew was setting up, they played Ramones music (Billie Joe's favorite.)... and I was probably one of the only people singing along.. sigh again. Then Billie Joe came out along with Tre and Mike and the crowed really went nuts. People were throwing EVERYTHING!!!! Cups(some with drinks still inside. I smelled like beer by the time the night was over), cds (ouch!), tapes, shoes, shirts, ice... food... everything they didn't want, they threw. Then Billie Joe was being silly and started playing Iron man.. then the Beautiful People. He giggled along with the rest of the crowd when he was acting like Marilyn Manson and then played some Green Day music. Of course, they had to play Operation Ivy's Knowledge, and a fine version it was! At the time it was my favorite show...
