The Chihuahua is the smallest recognized breed in the world. in spite of this they are a cmoparatively hardy breed with a terrier-like personality. They are very protective of thier homes and family and will bark and attack without hesitation if they think their possessions are in danger. The long coated variety was introduced by crossing the original smooth coated with a Pekingese or Papillon.
