The Chihuahua is the smallest recognized breed in the world. In spite of this they are a comparatively hardy breed with a terrier-like personality. They are usually free-whelpers and make extraordinarily good mothers. Another interesting characteristic is the Chihuahuas apparent natural immunity to distemper.
