SANCTIONING ORGANIZATIONS:
I first met Anthony Torres, by telephone, while he was with IBOP (International Brotherhood of Prizefighters).  We became good friends.  Anthony moved on to work at the NABO office in Los Angeles.  We continued to work together and Anthony was instrumental on getting our fighters rated and into title fights.

The NABO/WBO family is great to be associated with.  WBO president, Francisco "Paco" Valcarcel, Jose Torres, Mark Reels, and Joe Hernandez, all do a great job. We really enjoyed the convention in October '97, in Los Angeles and again in October '98 in Hamburg, Germany.  We look forward to a long association and many future World Champions.

John Daddono has done an excellent job with the IBO.  Recently, he brought in Ed Levine as president, and Don Hazelton, as executive director. With the expertise associated with that organization, they will certainly move on to become a major sanctioning body in the near future.

The NBA is the oldest organization in boxing. Irv Abramson has recently stepped down as president and became an advisor to Walter "Butch" Flansburg, who has become the new president.  The organization is non-profit and is attempting to better the sport by providing an opportunity to deserving boxers who otherwise may not get opportunities.  Steve Frank, David Armstrong, and Bernard Harris, are current NBA World Champions.

The IBC is headed up by Joseph "Blackie" Gennaro, and assisted by Debbie Jones.  Fred Lampson, is also involved.  We go back many years with Fred--when he was the commissioner for the state of Kentucky, and later with the WBA.  We thank the IBC for giving us the opportunity for Freeman Barr to win the middleweight Americas title.

INDIVIDUALS AND BUSINESSES:  We thank the following for their contributions which have made SJC Professional Boxing what it is today.  There is no particular order and everyone is appreciated.  If anyone is omitted it is accidental and we apologize.  Thank you!  Smitty (James E.
