Stacy Prestage was born October 27, 1968, in Liberal, Kansas. She has lived much of her life in the Kansas City area. After a short career in the military, she returned home to Kansas City and decided to embark upon her professional boxing career. Originally only interested in self defense, Stacy was intriqued and driven by the competitive challenge that boxing offered.
Her professional debut was a four round decision over Edith Duran on May 19, 1990. Her next fight, fought in Fort Myers, Florida, against Suzanne Ricco was on November 17, 1990, where she lost a five round decision. Stacy was not discouraged, not even after losing another close decision to Christy Martin. She later fought Diedra Gogarty three times, winning twice with one draw. In 1994, she won the women's WIBF world Jr. Lightweight championship, however, her title was vacated due to inactivity.
Now, with a renewed desire and dedication, a new team in her corner (SJC Boxing), and a new location (Southwest Florida), Stacy hopes she is successful in her quest to regain the world title.
