Fan reviews of Ann-Margret's tv movies and mini-series

Who Will Love My Children?

"WHO WILL LOVE MY CHILDREN" In 1983 ANN-MARGRET made her TV MOVIE DEBUT in JOHN ERMAN'S "WHO WILL LOVE MY CHILDREN". The film and her performance were unbelieveable. This was not the ANN-MARGRET we had known...there was NO glamour, no singing. Certainly she had proved previously that she was awesomely talented. One need only view "CARNAL KNOWLEDGE" or "TOMMY" to know she was a multi-dimentional actress. In those films, however, she was still a recognizable ANN-MARGRET. Not so in "WHO WILL LOVE MY CHILDREN". Gone was any trace of glamour, any make-up, her infamous red tresses dyed dark brown, no furs, nor great costumes. She became the character she portrayed...LUCILE FRAY... a poor country woman but VERY rich with love for life and her children. Unfortunately her life was not so blessed. She was married to an alcoholic and she died of cancer far before life should have eluded her. Her last year was spent in finding homes for her children knowing her husband was unable to care for them. It's a heart wrentching saga, seeing her have to say good bye to her most cherished treasures. I've recommended the film to friends and they've called me after seeing it saying "I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO SEE AN ANN-MARGRET FILM!!! I SPENT THE ENTIRE TWO HOURS SOBBING MY GUTS OUT!!" ANN-MARGET was nominated for an EMMY for her beautiful, loving portrayal of LUCILLE FRAY. She lost to the legendary BARBARA STANWYKE. Even MS STANWYKE paid homage to ANN-MARGRET in her acceptance speech: "NOW I WOULD LIKE TO PAY A PERSONAL TRIBUTE AT THIS TIME TO A LADY WHO IS A WONDERFUL ENTERTAINER. SHE GAVE US A FILM LAST SEASON IN WHICH SHE GAVE ONE OF THE FINEST, MOST BEAUTIFUL PERFORMANCES I'VE EVER SEEN. ANN-MARGRET, YOU WERE SUPERB!" No truer words were EVER said!!! If you've not seen this film SEE IT!!!.....be warned, take a box of kleenex...maybe two!!
