Kittens in A Row



This is a really fast and easy blanket that is very cheery and nice to look at.

Enjoy making it as much as I did. *smile*

Materials:
Worsted Weight Yarn: 16 oz gray,

16 oz black,

22 oz white.

Hook size H


Gauge= 4 shells= 5"


Instructions:


With black ch 164 loosely;
Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook and in next ch; sk 2 chs,

2 dc in next ch ; ch 1, 2 dc in next ch;

*sk 3 chs, 2 dc in next ch; ch 1, 2 dc in next ch;

rep from *to last 5 chs; sk 2 chs, dc in each of last 3 chs.
Row 2: Ch 3, turn; dc in each of next 2 dc, sk next 2 dc,

work a shell(2 dc, ch 1, 2 dc) in next ch-1 sp;

*sk next 4 dc, work a shell in next ch-1 sp;

rep from * to last 4 dc; sk next 2 dc,

dc in each of next 2 dc; dc in top of ch-3, changing to white.

[To Change Colors: Work dc until 2 lps rem on hook;

finish off color being used,

leaving approx 4" end for weaving in later.

With new color(leave 4" end),

YO and draw through 2 lps on hook=color changed.]
Row 3: With white, ch 3, turn; dc in each of next 2 dc;

* work a shell in ch-1 sp of next shell;

work a puff st between shells in 2nd row below

[To Work Puff St:

(YO and insert hook between shells in 2nd row below;

hook yarn and draw up a long lp to height of working row)4 times

(9 lps now on hook);

YO and draw through 2 rem lps on hook=puff st made.];

rep from * to last shell; work a shell in ch-1 sp of last shell,

dc in each of next 2 dc, dc in top of ch-3.
Row 4: Ch 3, turn; dc in each of next 2 dc,

* work a shell in ch-1 sp of next shell;

rep from * to last 2 dc; dc in each of last 2 dc, dc in top of ch-3.
Row 5: Rep Row 4, changing to gray at end of row(as before).
Rows 6 through 8: With gray, rep Rows 3 through 5.

At end of Row 8, change to black.
Rows 9 through 11: With black, rep Rows 3 through 5.

At end of Row 11, change to white.
Rep Rows 3 through 11 until afghan measures approx 60" long,

ending by working Row 10(2 rows of black completed).

Finish off; weave in all ends.


Fringe:
Following Fringe make single knot fringe.

Cut 14" strands of white; use 12 strands for each knot of fringe.

Working across each short end of afghan,

tie one knot in each sp between shells and in sp at each end

(between dc and shell).
