Amy has many talents apart from her Acting work. One of them is Music. Amy plays electric bass and guitar in her band "Porridge". Amy plays lead guitar and sings backup vocals in her band. Other members of the band include former college roommate Rene Bouchard (vocals and rhymn guitar) and Andrew Farrell (bass). Amy calls the type of music they play "mellow/vibe/ambient/grunge". porridge has had gigs in New York City clubs and is currently working on a demo tape.

Amy does have dreams of becoming a rock star. She has once said " A record deal would be nice. We'll see what happens. I'm not afraid of commiting to something, so if the band takes off, I'll be really happy." Amy recalls " We...played [New York City's cutting-edge music hall] CBGB's and it was really fun...we don't have a gig booked for a while, but we'll be back. We are working on a demo now".
A few Comments on band from past "Another World" co-star Timothy Gibbs (ex-Gary). He gave the band rave reviews: " They are great. I've heard their tracks on tapes and live. They definetely have a unique sound. And their lead singer is a poet, too".
I can also honestly say that Amy has definite talent with her band. I once have seen her perform live while she played the guitar and sang with a beautiful and emotional singing voice. She sang a song that she had written herself called "LOLLY". You could truly sense Amy's attachment to the music and her love for it. I very much enjoyed the music. The band is definitely a success and is very promising! =) Carlson admits her band is still in the developmental stages. "We are continually learning about each other musically and ourselves musically". Carlson has been involved with music her whole life. She played the piano when she was younger.
