Ancestry.com -The Alabama Marriages database is available by subscription
(along with all their other databases)
Many libraries have subscriptions to ancestry.com (and
the other online genealogy database sites) so you can search
them for free. You might want to check with your local
branch. I think the subscription rate for an individual is
$5.00 a month... the savings of being able to search from home
instead of driving to the library are substantial.

Civil War Maps--
This American Memory collection is from the Library's
Geography and Map Division, and includes reconnaissance,
sketch, coastal, and theater-of-war maps which depict
troop activities and fortifications during the Civil
War. Also contains maps from General Sherman's military
campaigns in Tennessee, Mississippi, Georgia and the Carolinas.
Civil War - Selected Photographs--
The Library of Congress' American Memory collection of
1,118 photographs, most of which were taken under the
supervision of Mathew Brady, and include scenes of
military personnel, preparations for battle and battle
after-effects. Also includes portraits of both Confederate
and Union officers, and a selection of enlisted men.

Pamplin Historical Park--
One of the newest Civil War attractions in the country,
this 422-acre park in Petersburg, Va., features the
National Museum of the Civil War Soldier; a restored and
furnished 1812 plantation house that also served as a
Confederate brigade headquarters; a re-created military
encampment; a battlefield center of interpretive displays;
and a trail leading through the battlefield where U.S.
Grant's Union army broke through the defensive line of
Robert E. Lee's Confederate force.
