August 21: "BACKSTREET BOYS' INTO THE MILLENNIUM TOUR" FEVER!!

In an unprecedented show of popularity, popsters Backstreet Boys have sold all 765,000 tickets for their North American tour in just one day, generating an estimated $30 million. Tickets for the 11-week, 39-city arena tour, which kicks off Sept. 14 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., sold out as soon as they went on sale Saturday -- the vast majority within an hour. The boxoffice activity for the Sears Presents Backstreet Boys Into the Millennium Tour, which runs through Dec. 2 and reaches the Forum in the Los Angeles area on Oct. 19-20, is unprecedented in the concert business. "This is kind of exciting. This sale shows this band's career is clearly on the upswing," said Jeff Kwatinetz, co-founder of the Firm, which manages Backstreet Boys. "We are going to have sold-out audiences seeing one of the best shows they will ever see, and that will take this band to the next level."

July 22: NEXT SINGLE...

Apparently, according to The Backstreet Boys Band Site and Backstreet.Net , the next single off "Millennium" will be "Larger Than Life." The video is being shot at the end of August, before the guys begin the American dates of the World Tour...

NEXT SINGLE OFF "MILLENNIUM"

Backstreet Boys' Choreographer Fatima has stated in an interview that the next single off "Millennium" will be "Show Me The Meaning" :
Fatima: The album is really good. I really, really like it. My favorite songs are "Show Me the Meaning" and another up-tempo song called "Gotta Be You." I'm actually a little disappointed that the first single isn't a big dance video. But I'm looking forward to doing the second single, which is a big, big dance video. "Show Me the Meaning" is such a beautiful song. It has a slight Latin feel and I want to do a different style of dancing for them.

I got this news from Backstreet.Net.

June 11: GET THE GOSS BEHIND "MILLENNIUM!"

On May 21, the guys co-hosted a YTV Hit List BSB special. While in Canada a Canadian Press conference for their new CD, "Millennium" was held also.
Four days after the cd was released in Canada, it had gone 5 TIMES PLATINUM ( 500,000 copies )!!!

What do the guys think about "Millennium"?

Nick: "It's one of our favourite albums. It has a lot of personal influence."

Howie: "We had a lot of family health issues. Brian had heart surgery. I had a sister that passed away. There was a lot of things going on this year. I think that's why this album is as good as we feel it is because of the fact that we went through a lot to get to where we are today."

BSB's fave songs on "Millennium"?

Nick likes "Don't Want to Lose You" and "Spanish Eyes".
Howie likes "Spanish Eyes" and "Don't Want You Back".
A.J.'s faves are "Don't Want You Back" and "Perfect Fan" (Brian wrote "Perfect Fan" so he was very touched by A.J's choice!).
Brian's faves are "Don't Want To Lose You" and "Perfect Fan".
Kevin's fave is "Don't Want To Lose You".

At the Toronto Press Conference, both A.J. and Kevin said that their perfect fans are their moms!

AJ: "She was always out there screaming 'That's my son!'"

Kevin: "My family was supportive even when I was dressed up as 'Goofy' at Walt Disney World."

I saw one of the "Millennium" commercials ( Howie's one ) which was really funny! These ran in a number of countries before the release date of Millennium.
Each of the boys had his own commercial! A.J. was in London, England with English guards. Nick as in a tropical rain forest somewhere. Howie was chased by bulls in Spain! Brian was in Italy at the Coliseum fighting as a gladiator and Kevin was in Egypt with the Pyramids looking for beach and surf!

Kevin said that because BSB is lucky enough to have fans all over the world and also because "Millennium" was the first album BSB has ever released world wide at the same time, they decided to include different countries from all around the world! Kevin chose to be in the dessert with the Pyramids because he's always found Egypt and the Pyramids extremely fascinating. And with the coming Millennium, he thought it was a cool idea!

What about the AMAZING portraits of the guys in the "Millennium" cd booklet?

On the "Millennium" CD cover, Howie, Nick, Brian, A.J., and Kevin each represent a primary element. Howie is "fire". Nick is "water". Brian is "earth". A.J. is "the sun" and Kevin is "steel".
Apparently THIS is how they decided who was going to represent which element.......
* Well, Howie said that each of them chose their favourite colour and then chose an element to match it.
* A.J's favourite colour is "yellow' so he picked "the sun".
* Howie chose "fire" even though it's the opposite of his personality.
* Nick chose "water" because he loves blue and also because he loves to be near the ocean.
* Kevin chose "steel" simply because he loves the colour black!

Wanna know what "I Want It That Way" is about?

According to A.J. (who also finds the song confusing!),the song is about "two people who are in some kind of relationship that's not a two way street. It's a one way street where one person wants it one way and the other person wants it their way."

What about the video?

A.J. also said that the video was shot at the Los Angeles Airport and that the lucky fans that appear in the video were contest winners!

AJ News!

Brian, A.J. and Nick recently bought new homes and A.J. described his:
AJ:"Mine's something like out of "The Jetson's"...zebra rugs, a big zebra chair, velvet floor, a red shag carpet around the house, wood floors, paintings by Picasso, angels on the wall...my entire bed is black velvet with leopard patterned pillows...all kinds of crazy stuff...it's me! I also have 2 puppies named 'Panda' and 'Bear'. I miss them like crazy because I haven't seen them in 3 or 4 weeks. They're getting bigger and poofier!"

Is A.J. still dating the same girl?

A.J.: "No. I was dating Amanda of 'Innocence' for about a year. Now, we've kind of split our ways. (A.J. told Hit List off camera that they recently broke up only 3 weeks ago!) We're still friends and she's going off doing her own solo career. She's working on her career and I'm obviously working on mine. If we come back together someday then we come back together. If not we'll always be friends...that's a definite."

BSB are currently on tour so what about "Millennium" the road show?

"We have a brand new stage...a pentagon five sided stage. New pyromania, 10 dancers, a brand new band...we'll be flying around...the entire show is 2 hours long with 18 songs so it's going to be an incredible show!

I got this news from Backstreet.Net. It was sent to that site by Backstreet.Net reader Joanna. The source was YTV Canada

The Backstreet Boys recently participated in a televised press conference at Studio 54 in New York....followed by an online virtual fan-conference - where they answered questions from all over the world about"Millennium". This was in celebration of "Millennium's" global release. If you missed the online virtual fan conference click here to visit the BSB fan conference archive.

Also recently, the boys took part in a "Backstreet Boys Live" special, held at MTV's Time's Square studio in New York. This attracted an enormous crowd - at 10,000 it was the biggest EVER crowd outside the studio!
