The eldest member of the Backstreet Boys, Kevin Scott Richardson was born on
October 3, 1971, in Lexington, Kentucky. Kevin always knew that he wanted to be
a musician in some way; singing in church growing up. He and cousin Brian Littrell,
were both part of music-oriented families.
Kevin spent the first nine years of his life on a 10-acre farm, then lived in a
modern log-cabin style home for the next eight years. During this time, Kevin
rode horses and dirt bikes and enjoyed Little League sports. When he was a
freshman in high school, Kevin received his first keyboard set. Playing by ear to
learn, he eventually became skilled enough to perform at restaurants and weddings
and to enter local talent contests.
Kevin got his first stage experience in local productions of " Bye Bye Birdie" and
" Barefoot In The Park ," among others, and he also got a job as a ballroom dancing
instructor. Later, Kevin decided to travel to Orlando, Florida; in hopes of getting
a break in the entertainment business. He got this break at Walt Disney World, as a
Tour Guide at first, then by playing the character of "Aladdin" and a Ninja Turtle
on stage and in the theme park's daily parades.
It was while working at Disney World, that Kevin was discovered by talent scouts,
and asked to audition for a new pop group called the Backstreet Boys. His strong
voice and dancing skills earned him a spot as the fourth member of the group.

* Kevin is a perfectionist. " He's got a lot of positive aspects, but he lets his
perfectionist side get in the way sometimes because he wants things to be too
perfect." says Brian.
* The TV Show " South Park " can make Kevin convulse with laughter.
* He got the nickname " Train " from Brian and Nick, for his ability to run over the opposition in his bid for the hoop!
* Kevin is insatiably curious when it comes to learning about the producing side of the recording business.
* He admits that he has the worst temper in the group.
* He is " mature, responsible, professional and knows what he wants."
* Kevin admits that sometimes it's not hard to make him cry.
* Kevin enjoys DJ-ing when he has the opportunity.
* He also loves to check out the latest dance moves in the clubs, with Howie and AJ.
* He dedicated BSB's debut album to his father ( who died in 1991 of cancer)
* Kevin says that the only thing he'd trade being in BSB for, is to have his father back.
* Kevin loves to sample local cuisine in the countries that BSB visit.
* His fave sport is Basketball, but in high school, he also played Football and was very good at it.
* His biggest purchases for himself since he's become famous are a house in Florida, a new black Toyota Pathfinder, and an original work of art for his house.
* One of Kev's most embarrasing on-stage moments was when he split his trousers during an energetic dance routine!
* Kevin often calls up the Boys' band in the middle of the night, and puts on silly voices!
* Kevin passes the time on tour by sleeping or writing songs. " If I'm writing I can forget about everything else, and be happy about creating something new. "
