Denes Agay, a renowned composer and arranger of piano music, died Jan. 24 at his daughter's home in Los Altos, where he had lived since 2004. He was 95. Mr. Agay was born and raised near Budapest, Hungary, and began playing the piano at the age of 3. A child prodigy, he attended law school and the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Budapest, where he earned a doctorate in piano composition in 1934. He left Hungary during the rise of Nazi Germany and arrived in New York City in 1939.
