Topic: Gian Carlo Menotti
Gian Carlo Menotti, a giant of twentieth century opera composition, whose popular works for the modern lyric stage evinced the influences of nineteenth century romanticism and Italian repertoire, has died. The composer's adopted son, Francis, announced his father's death on Thursday at Monaco's Princess Grace Hospital. Menotti was 95.
