Paul McCloud

Paul McCloud

PAUL McCLOUD BIOGRAPHY

Paul McCloud spent his early years on his parent's farm at Tambar Springs near Tamworth, where his supporters now gather each Faster for a bush camping weekend of campfires and country music.

He released his first album in 1982, recorded at Hadley Studios in Tamworth, and titled The Sensitive Sound of Paul McCloud. His fifteenth album titled Easy On My Mind was released in October 2001.

Paul is undoubtedly one of Australia's most successful independent recording artists and he feels very privileged to have received the support, guidance and excellent musicianship of some of Australia's very best musicians, producers and engineers who have worked with him on his recording projects over the years, including Eric Scott, Lindsay Butler, Steve Newton, Larry Larstead, Chris Jones, Vic Lanyon, John Minson, Geoff Clapson and many more.

For most of the past two decades Paul has spent his time, in between recording projects, travelling Australia and presenting his unique one man show to a legion of dedicated supporters. His strongest supporter and travelling companion being his wife Hele. They often tour by caravan accompanied by their Himalayan cat Chloe, now thirteen and half years old. He has appeared at every Tamworth Country Music Festival since 1983 and, along with a number of guest artists and volunteer supporters, runs his own Festival of Campfires and Country Music each Easter at the family farm "Hartwood" near Tambar Springs NSW. Hartwood was purchased in 1946 by Paul's father, The Roadie. Paul's mum, The Shirtmaker made all Paul's stage shirts in the early years out of old wedding frocks purchased from Op Shops along the way.

Often referred to by his peers and fans alike, as the Master Performer, Paul's current two hour concert is a mixture of fun, laughter and song, and is packed full of special moments, memories and magic that will leave you with that lingering warm feeling long after the last song.

As a firm believer in the teachings of Jesus and taking care of the soul, Paul is very pleased to have had many people comment on the comfort they have gained from listening to his Pure Gospel album.

New Release 2001

After around four and a half years of intermittently working on my new recording project (during which time we released a couple of compilation albums plus A Gospel Christmas), I can now say the new album, titled "Easy On My Mind" is finally available and if I may say so myself, it is quite exquisite.

Ever since producer Vic Lanyon and I sat down together about eighteen months ago, to begin work in earnest, each song just fell into place as if it were meant to be. I have featured many of the songs during my concerts over the past year or so and certainly the tribute song to Mother and Father (titled The Roadie and The Shirtmaker) has been a hit among fans and supporters who knew them. However there is a great mixture of original and cover version songs on the album that just sit together so beautifully. A little different to my earlier albums, (which is what I set out to do) but still with that distinctive diction and lay back style that is synonymous with Paul McCloud. I don't believe there will be too many people who won't like it.

1999 CHRISTMAS ALBUM WITH A GOSPEL TOUCH

ChaosMusic

The long awaited Christmas album from Popular Sunshine Coast artist and ex Tamworth resident Paul McCloud, is now available. Paul is well known for his easy listening style of country and gospel music and this approach certainly suits his new album titled, "A Gospel Christmas". The album, produced by Tamworth legend Lindsay Butler, features fourteen tracks, including five new Christmas songs written by Australians, plus a selection of popular carols such as "Silent Night", "Away In A Manger", "Oh Come All Ye Faithful", (including a verse in ancient Latin) and a delicate balance of old and new Gospel songs. With some twenty years of touring and performing, and fourteen albums to his credit, McCloud is acclaimed by his fans and peers alike, as the "Master Performer". His live concerts are a mixture of Fun, Laughter and Song that leave you with that warm lingering feeling, long after the last note. Paul’s new album ‘A Gospel Christmas’ will no doubt fill many homes with cheer this Christmas, and is also an excellent hi-fi.
