Religious Aspects of Domestic Violence

The Religious Aspects of Domestic Violence Workshop deals with the Nature of Domestic Violence (statistics, power, why it continues, roadblocks, do's and don'ts); Perpetrator's Excuses (e.g., blaming the victim, "the bible says...", drinking and drugging); Domestic Violence as Learned Behavior (accepted by society, accepted by the church, taught in the media, "not caused by...", assault); and Domestic Violence and Scripture (Gospel, Hebrew and Christian passages). The workshop will include role playing and group exercises. This course is certified by P.O.S.T. for Peace Officers, Detention Officers, Dispatchers, and Coroners.
The Religious Aspects of Domestic Violence Workshop is sponsored in part by the Governor's Domestic Violence Elimination (DoVE) Council. The DoVE Council is providing 20 scholarships of $40.00 for this workshop. Continuing Education UnitsThis class has been approved for CEUs by the Wyoming Psychological Association. UW graduate credit is pending. It does meet the Wyoming Mental Health Professions Licensing Board's criteria for continuing education. POST Units are available.
