ADVANCED ISSUES IN CRITICAL INCIDENT STRESS DEBRIEFING

Advanced Issues in Critical Incident Stress Debriefing 11/17, 2001 8:00 to 4:30
Taught by U.S. Navy Psychologist, CDR Bryce Lefever, Ph.D., ABPP, this workshop is a one-day, hands on workshop for intermediate to advanced Critical Incident Stress debriefers (mental health and peer debriefers). Goals include a thorough understanding of the seven- step model and the application of that model in difficult circumstances. Topics include: Review of the model What is therapeutic about CISD? Paying attention to multiple stressors Advanced techniques for each stage of CISD What we can accomplish in the Summary Stage The difficult debrief Heroic responsibility The Advanced Workshop is designed for emergency services and disaster workers, security, safety, military, industrial and school system personnel, EAPs, human resources personnel, psychologists, social workers, and counselors who have had an introductory course in Critical Incident Stress Management.

Continuing Education Units

This class is approved for CEUs by the Wyoming Psychological Association. It does meet the Wyoming Mental Health Professions Licensing Board's criteria for continuing education.
